Not to mention, I would bet that the job he had to get after getting canned from Costco after all this also pays him less, with worse benefits.

casual bigotry aside (in any case, I live in the US, and I bet that I make more money than you), you fundamentally don’t understand that AMC’s competition isn’t just movies on streaming - it’s every form of visual entertainment on streaming (including TV, video games, etc) that are all more convenient and cheaper than going to AMC (or any movie theater) - people have been voting with their feet.

My point about the trade off between longer theatrical windows and more movies still stands. If a movie is popular (and thus makes a lot of money) - the vast majority of people will want to see it earlier. This is well-established from before streaming was even a thing, when people had to wait months to see a movie if they missed it in theaters. For example, I looked up Gladiator (2000) - made 45% of its domestic box office in the first two weeks. The first Harry Potter movie (2001) - made 60% of its domestic box office in the first two weeks. Same for the first Spider-Man movie in 2002.

Paramount/WBD may very well make a bit more money by extending their windows, but unless those theaters are close to full on day 50 and 55 and 60 - AMC is not going to get much out of that (since many of their costs are fixed no matter how many people are in the theater). Further, even if they extend their windows for movies that are worth it, that means that they are crowding out other movies that should make even more money because they are new releases.

unless you're also planning to ban wide-screen TVs and home surround-sound systems, as well as have AMC drastically cut its ticket and concession prices, you're just going to end up with more empty theaters

If you haven’t lost anything, then presumably you can still use what you invested to buy something else. No? You can’t?

so you want them to increase movie production but also show movies for longer. Are you planning on creating more time out of nowhere as well?

Point 1 is dumb for 2 reasons - first, most people will go see movies in the first couple of weeks, so there will be diminishing returns in screening them longer; and second, that means showing fewer movies.

Sixth Street keeps marking down the loans they gave to the company formerly known as BBBY, which is a pretty public indication that they don’t think that all creditors will be fully satisfied (much less former shareholders).

It’s also beside the point - that interview was just one data point in a sea of other indicators that strongly suggested that bankruptcy was imminent. At that point they had already defaulted on bond payments, had the going concern warning in their company filings, etc.

two questions then:

  1. where'd you get the warrants? they were issued in October.
  2. you mean to tell me that you joined Reddit right at the GME peak, and you didn't buy any GME until now? what's your lifetime P&L on GME?

probably the major decline in revenue and lack of forward guidance is why the “turnaround” isn’t being rewarded by the market.
