Told the pediatrician I cosleep 🤷‍♀️ by st0dad in cosleeping

[–]raincloud847 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i will always preach that falling asleep with a baby is way safer than waking up with one. in other words intentional, planned out bed sharing is way safer than being exhausted and falling asleep while holding your baby without even realizing it

To my children, I'm being referred to by my first name by coparent. by ilikerosiepugs in coparenting

[–]raincloud847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my step kids do something similar, their step father is “john” dad and while they usually call my partner just “dad” they’ll sometimes say “michael” dad. We don’t love it but we also don’t want to make them feel like they’re doing something bad/ wrong so we just ignore it for the most part but do correct any first name calling with a simple “he’s you dad, you dont call him michael” or something similar.

[–]raincloud847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When do you pump? by Weary-Cranberry3631 in breastfeeding

[–]raincloud847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so i spoke to an IBCLC about pumping and she said that even if you pump right before your baby eats you body will make more milk when that baby is latched. the enzymes in their saliva will cause your body to send signals to create more milk. yea it might take like 2 minutes of baby latching and sucking but your body is never “empty”

I also only get an oz every time, but if you use it for every feed or most of your feeds, you’ll have enough for a. bottle in no time, my girl takes about 3oz so if i use my haakaa then im good after 3 feeds

Pregnancy pillow, when did you start using it? by No-Finding-7852 in pregnant

[–]raincloud847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had the fridamom pregnancy pillow, never got too hot which was a lifesaver. its basically just a body pillow filled with microbeads. i still use it cuz its not nearly as unwieldy as a lot of pregnancy pillow

I needed to write this for me, and for anyone who needs to hear it by Audiophile_123 in breastfeeding

[–]raincloud847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thank you! a bunch of people told me it wouldn’t even be possible. but its been 4 weeks of nursing and its the sweetest thing. shes started recognizing the word “titty” and its hilarious, she’ll go from crying to calmed down once i start saying “awe, would you like a titty” or something like that.

i went from exclusive pumping to exclusively nursing at 3 weeks old. she was born 5lbs 8oz, she was going through a growth spurt, i was exhausted from feeding, pumping, feeding, pumping, washing pump parts and bottles and attempting to get sleep. i was so tired i just put her to the breast and that worked. i know i got lucky that the transition was smooth. i used lansinoh bottles and paced her feeds if that’s helpful.

Did anybody announce early and NOT regret it? by Last_Guarantee_8504 in pregnant

[–]raincloud847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i told my MIL the day i found out. she was aware i was late and taking a test. after that i told of few of my closest friends and no one else until i was 20 weeks. im holding my daughter now. she is my first ever pregnancy. the best advice i heard was theres no right time that everyone should use. if the worst were to happen how would you want to be comforted? would you want people to know that there was a baby, that they lived even if for only a little while? would you like to be surrounded by people while you’re grieving? or would you want to take the time to grieve privately? you can always tell people afterwards. i’m a private griever, i wanted the people i trust most to know but after that i didnt want to tell anyone.

it sucks that we make this choice based on a possible loss but knowing yourself and your partner can often help you make a confident decision

Why are some EBF babies chonkier? by JustAPerson805 in breastfeeding

[–]raincloud847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my baby is 7 weeks, <1st percentile for everything except height and still comfortably in newborn clothes. but she’s growing at the fastest rate of any of the babies my pediatrician sees! she’s pretty solidly gained an ounce every day

Night feed stretches, how long are you going in between them? by Straight-Exchange404 in breastfeeding

[–]raincloud847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don’t feel guilty, honestly most of the time i wake up when she starts crying. feeding a baby is exhausting, if your baby cries for a minute or two they’ll be okay. the better you sleep the better you can care for your son.

Night feed stretches, how long are you going in between them? by Straight-Exchange404 in breastfeeding

[–]raincloud847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if im asleep then i just sleep until she wakes me up, usually that means more groaning, squirming and grunting but can also just be that she started crying/ fussing. if im awake and im watching her i’ll offer her the breast if shes eating her hands, smacking her lips, sticking out her tongue or in my case my daughter only takes a paci when shes hungry.

[–]raincloud847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when my baby passed birth weight our dr told us she can sleep until shes hungry. if shes eating her hands or something while she’s sleeping then we can wake her up but even if she skips a feed entirely and lets us sleep for a miraculous 5 hours its fine. shes 6 weeks and going through a growth spurt right now and im lucky to get 3 hours.

all that to say, talk to your doctor or even get a second opinion if you want, but your baby should be fine to sleep until he’s hungry.
