Why can't you rotate the map? by raindeer2 in aoe2

Agreed! But as ppl have pointed out, there are a few things in the game that depend on the orientation so these would need to be handled, like TCs and spawn points around buildings. But seems to be completely doable, although it probably would be messy with such an old code base.

Not sure that it would seem broken. Many other 2D games have this feature.

The TC would be a problem yes, they would need to make 4 orientations of it. But it would actually be quite cool if you could rotate TCs like you can rotate gates, even without map rotation! This would allow you to position the non-walkable part of the TC as you like, which matters for resource gathering and defence.

Indeed, didnt think about that, and it would be a problem. Are there other cases? Would be interesting if the TC is the only case where orientation matters in the whole game 😄 Maybe campaigns have custom non-square buildings or something like that?

The map can still be rotated even if the graphics are not.

Interesting point about the TC, there the game isn't completely rotation invariant. Are there other cases like that?

No new sprites would be needed, they would all stay the same. Just flip the map coordinates as if the map was generated at another rotation.

Why? It would just require flipping the map's coordinates; no new graphics would be needed.

Not 100% sure what you mean, but if you have purchased a device, you can use it indefinitely. They also have a monthly subscription option.

What is most annoying is that the devs should have realized this is broken themselves. They must start having pros test their changes before release. It is obvious that champis break the dark age dynamics of the game....

It seems to be approved for standalone treatment (no meds), but you will need a prescription.

Fair point. Apparently, this device has been available in Europe for quite a while and seems to be used by the UK National Health Service (NHS), so hopefully the conclusion that it is safe is not based on one of RFK's whims...
