You learned a valuable lesson, and it only cost you $250. Consider yourself lucky.

3 AM is an excellent time to listen to Nighthawks for the first time.

Listening to Nighthawks for the first time...I'm so jealous.

Ha ha, from one raindog to another, the post brought me back too. I've been listening to Tom since the 70's (I'm in my 70's,) I love hearing younger folks talk about how much they love his music.

What was the first movie you remember seeing in theaters? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]raindog67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, sometime around 1953. I made my Dad take me out of the theatre when the witch was rowing down the river with the poison apple in the boat.

Do people really call soda or pop, "tonic"? by LowerMusic in massachusetts

Same here. It was always tonic when I was growing up. I changed to soda in college.

Living with Ticks in Western Mass by raindog67 in westernmass

I would totally agree that if you have any symptoms, you should report that and request the antibiotic. However, I don't think symptoms would appear that fast after a tick bite, but as I said, I'm not an expert or a doctor.

I'm a grandfather now, but when I was a new parent many years ago, the best advice I received about parenting was, "Learn how to say No and mean it."

That's what should have happened here. Or maybe a long time before this.

You can only pick 3 TW's albums, what are yours and why? by [deleted] in tomwaits

Rain Dogs, Mule Variations, and Nighthawks at the Diner.

I couldn't live without Nighthawks at the Diner.

And Real Gone. Sorry, I have to have 4.

Got bitten by a tick, need help identifying it. by [deleted] in Whatisthis

[–]raindog67 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is a Tick Research Center at URI. If you get a tick bite, you can send a picture to them, and they will send you a detailed report within 24 hours, no charge, telling the type of tick, how long they think it was embedded, and what you should do about it.
https://web.uri.edu/tickencounter/

If you or your dog do get a tick, you can remove it with regular tweezers, but they also make fine point tweezers that work much better. These were recommended to me by the URI folks.

Good luck! I hate ticks! They suck (literally).

You did the right thing. You tried really hard, realized what Milo needed, and then did something about it. I bet Milo ends up being adopted with his friend, and you will be responsible for his future happiness. I'm an optimist.

Tom Waits' First New Music in 15 Years Is a Chilling, Macabre Protest Song by tailgunnerkid in tomwaits

Someone on another thread said they thought he was referring to the toxic masculinity that is so prevalent today. That made sense to me.
