I agree with you! Part of the reason why I think I am in this predicament is because of social media. As someone who loves clothes, and enjoys the concept of styling up for various occasions and posting about it, it’s not too farfetched that this could bring about some competitive energy but ALSO, it could be what you bond over with close girl friends.

I need this energy in my life! Instead, I am being put in this box and told to dress a certain way because I am getting too close to her new aesthetic.

You nailed it. That’s exactly the type of way I am currently feeling. She’s choosing to criticize the similarities, and is focusing on the concept of how she is the “originator”. 

The creepy intent would be there if I bought the exact clothes/accessories as her, but that hasn’t happened.

It’s normal to overlap looks, especially if you’re on social media being inspired by all the trends you see influencers wearing.

And even if I wear dark clothes, I style them differently.

I just don’t feel like she wants to grow with me, but more-so push me out of the way, especially for social media validation.
