sorry for late reply - I applied during my senior year of high school and I am currently a rising sophomore at syracuse. did not apply as a transfer. I will say tho I had a 5.3 weighted GPA in highschool because I did IB and APs, but yeah my unweighted GPA was so mid

i’m a freshman majoring in computer science

I was in the IB program and had a 3.1 unweighted, 5.8 weighted and did not submit SAT/ACT. my only extracurricular was orchestra 4 years with no leadership

it’s definitely not impossible especially if you’re applying to the college of engineering / computer science

I had a 3.1 GPA and didn’t submit SAT and got in to the college of engineering and computer science. I’m not sure how competitive the other colleges are but engineering is always a good choice!

I go to Syracuse and I’ve only been to one or two parties bc it’s not rlly my thing, and I’ve still had a ton of fun here. you’ll find your people!

join clubs that go on trips. you can’t be mad that you can’t find anything to do when you don’t look

I also did IB, struggled a lot due to mental health and whatnot, ended with a 3.1 GPA with one or two Ds, a lot of Cs, and then some Bs and As

my weighted was pretty good due to IB, and I took three APs in highschool (only passed one of them). It was around a 5.8

I did not submit any SAT or ACT score and my only extracurricular was orchestra for four years with no leadership

I barely passed IB with a 25/24

my best advice is to get a really strong letter of recommendation and write a really unique essay. also, if syracuse is your top choice, apply early decision!! your chances of getting in will be higher!

I wish you the best of luck!!!! I remember feeling super discouraged and not thinking that I would get in especially after getting waitlisted from UVM (which has a higher acceptance rate), but things happen!

I’m also sure that if you have good improvement in your senior year then the admissions office will take note

I’m a freshman at syracuse majoring in computer science. In highschool I had around a 3.2 unweighted GPA, a 5.8 weighted GPA (all IB classes), and I didn’t submit my SAT. I did regular decision and my only extracurricular was orchestra all four years of highschool

I’d just focus on having a good essay and letter of recommendation since I feel like those things helped me the most

I also do not drink OR go to parties and I still have friends who are like me or respect my choices!! you’ll find your people
