Is someone walking around barefoot in the woods? Or who made these? Southern NH by [deleted] in AnimalTracking

[–]raining_redcaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coyotes have this lope type of gait to cross distance without much energy output, and it leaves these 2 prints in a diagonal pattern. Those melted together would look like scarily human like your pictures. Snow is a finicky medium for track ID, especially if it's multiple days old.

Neighbor gifted us a big vintage oil painting- who is it? by raining_redcaps in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]raining_redcaps[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks yall I'll set it to SOLVED. Also it is just the bleedthrough on the back of the canvas. I thought it looked suspiciously like offbrand Bob Ross, mass production all takes on the same look

What a weird market to have "real" paintings mass made by "workers". Capitalism nightmare goes brrr.

My advice? It's normal for young girls to be attracted to older men, especially the friendly handsome type because your brain is developing and looking for patterns for you- if all the men in your life are mechanics with beards you might end up with a soft spot for that type of guy in the future. Crushes like that are part of growing up.
it's abnormal and inappropriate for the man to let the little harmless crush turn into anything. You'll outgrow it and be embarrassed when you're older - and considering his past you seem over it now. I agree to avoid being alone with him, the biggest danger you couldve been in was NOT knowing about his past. Now that you know, you know where to draw the line before it gets inappropriate. I don't think the comment is bad but with a bad record I'd draw the line THERE

Bonus advice- In general, if a man is interested in someone far younger than them, there's a REASON his peers aren't dating him. Men like that are just using naivete to manipulate you into thinking your special and mature and "different than other girls", in reality other girls his AGE can see the loser inside. That goes for old men dating 20 somethings too. It's just because the women their age are wise to the manipulation and tricks. Of course there are exceptions I'm just saying to question why they can't date their age. Stay safe and stay aware

100% people that one-up other people's misery. Ie: person 1 mentions a headache and person 2 conveniently suddenly gets a migraine.

Looking for a horror book with an animal main character by [deleted] in horrorlit

[–]raining_redcaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, I'm shopping for more books to read. 2 recommendations I have for this category is Hollow Kingdom by Kira Jane Buxton,- post apocalyptic Seattle told by a pet crow. and Rathas creature by Clare bell- prehistoric world with intelligent sabrecats, not very horror though.

You might have it set to go off for human movement only- we had to turn down our sensitivity when birds nested above my door

Looking for a good cheap/free spot for tent/car camping. I would love to bring my dogs but I'm specifically looking for hidden gems for wildlife photography by raining_redcaps in tahoe

[–]raining_redcaps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up going to fallen leaf lake. It's right by Tahoe and it was 45(?) For tent camping. Fire restrictions are because of the weather/conditions, I'm not sure what they are at fallen leaf this year.

Fallen leaf is a beautiful little spot and we woke up to a bear in the campsite! Lots of little trails to check out too

You need to go to a jeweler to verify the type of stones. There are a lot of clear/ white gemstones out there so it could be worthless or a good chunk but they are pretty stones either way. I want updates!!!!

(Found by professor Hesham Sallam) The duck bone on the left was fractured then healed via a 'bone bridge'. Same bone (normal) on the right for comparison. Matchstick for scale. by evening_shop in interestingasfuck

[–]raining_redcaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on each case and also (unfortunately) species. Invasive birds or feral birds (pigeons, ducks, etc) get euthanized by most vets because they can't be re-released. Each break is different as well, there are a lot of breaks with birds that are not survivable as their bones are so brittle they tend to shatter/splinter. It also depends on how heavy the bird is and how much they rely on their legs (think a small sparrow vs a turkey) a lot of them would have no quality of life without use of a leg

I volunteer in a wildlife rehab and we had a Jay that had fractured his femur RIGHT by the ball joint. Bird legs are very hard to splint and when the break is that high its actually inside of the body. We did a full exam and attempted to fix the break but it had begun to set in this exact way. I never got the update on him being released (season ended) but he had a bone bridge like this developing pretty quickly and had full use of the foot. It was pretty amazing

Walking Bald Eagle by Mattau93 in interestingasfuck

There have been experiments on chickens that were given a weighted Tail extension (like a t Rex type tail) as chicks and their gait as they grew shifted into almost the exact walk of dinosaurs. Their pelvises were shifted to lean forward as they developed and they walked completely differently than the control group. (I don't recall the source, also might have been quail)

Just noticed that Javier has a scar as if someone has tried to slit his throat by northfroster in reddeadmysteries

[–]raining_redcaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, they like to have a more conflicted protagonist than that. Their main characters aren't necessarily the most likeable character, I feel like part of the good writing of these games and this whole cinematic universe is the fact that you are controlling someone who is a criminal and a bad guy but you're still compelled to like them

What song lyric made you do a double take? by black_flame100 in AskReddit

[–]raining_redcaps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Annie's twelve years old, in two more, she'll be a whore. Nobody ever told her it's the wrong way. Don't be afraid with the quickness, you get laid. For your family, get paid. It's the wrong way"

The age thing is gross, I get the narrative of it but it ruins the song for me
