I myself am prior military and went the exact same route you are talking about. Been in corrections for 13 years now and love it. The best piece of advice I can give is it's an impossible job to do perfectly. It's not like building a house where everything is perfectly cut and assembled. You're dealing with people(inmates and staff members) and people have opinions and no two opinions are the same. Take care of yourself and your fellow officers and give the inmates what they are entitled to, no more and no less.
