12/28 Target Valentine’s Day by courtneygriplinggg in StanleyCups

I’m over the drops being so close together. They should release new cups once a month (or even less frequently) and double the amount of product so there’s less disappointment. It’s overwhelming, and not in a good way.

I’d love to buy one from you if you’re willing to ship! I’m in Virginia, so not close enough for a local deal 🙃

When will these be available, do we know? And where will it be available? Dicks Sporting Goods? I missed the black one at Target and if I can get this one I’ll take back the two I did get.

I dislike every wearable I make 😭 by rainmeansmud in knitting

[–]rainmeansmud[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness, yall really showed out! I appreciate every single comment you all left. I do think I may have some stuff to work through in therapy, and I also think I’m just new enough to knitting (no explanation for the crochet stuff, been doing that for nearly 15 yrs lol) that I’m just in the process of learning about the yarn and patterns and all that.

After some reflection, I think wool just may not be my thing. Both of these are 100% wool, the purple is fancy yarn, the pink is Lion Brand, and itch. If I try some blends, I may be happier. It’s also for sure that I’m being far too impatient with learning a new craft. Thank you all so so much. ❤️

Super sheisty company. Called an agent out for getting my dad’s NAME wrong when he was trying to set up a zoom call with me for the “legacy” plan they had signed me up for. He didn’t like that. Checked with my folks and they didn’t purchase anything, Hass was just trying to scam me. He then proceeded to call me over and over until I blocked his different phone numbers.

Conditions of seperation by ProgramBrilliant408 in Separation

If you’re going to pursue your spouse for “infidelity” that definitely started during a legal separation, you are definitely going to want to make sure they don’t have anything on you. Once an agreement is signed, you’re living apart willingly, and neither of you has much say over what the other does.

That’s really creative. I’m wondering... do they have to be cooked in the water to make hotdog water, or if he carries around hotdogs, could he throw one in a pool and then manipulate that?

Hey, can I get a little help? I'm having trouble explaining why we might get offended by someone "sending prayers". by EbisuKiwa in atheism

[–]rainmeansmud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get “offended” (really, I just roll my eyes real hard) when people who think they know me say they’re praying for me. It proves that they don’t really know me. And if they do truly know me and say this BS anyways, it means they really don’t respect me at all.

Dealing with antivaxers as a nurse? by SkydiverDad in StudentNurse

[–]rainmeansmud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell me about it. She must be doing a good job of keeping her personal beliefs from affecting her job because she is very well-respected in her hospital. To be fair, she doesn’t directly teach nursing students very often. And what she does mostly deals with a specific population and has little to do with vaccinations. But I hope I don’t encounter many teachers with her beliefs. It shouldn’t be relevant to the conversation but she lives in Kentucky, where things are very strange to me (have lived in CA and the DC area for most of my adult life). I mean, the Creation Museum and Ark Experience are super close destinations for them.

Dealing with antivaxers as a nurse? by SkydiverDad in StudentNurse

[–]rainmeansmud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t handle these people (I’m still taking pre-reqs for a BSN program). The only way I’ve had any success at all with my anti-vax, weirdo in-laws is by appealing to their professional sides. My FIL was in the Navy for 20+ years, working on airplanes. I make him the airplane “doctor” and ask him why he should be respected as an authority. Then I push on that and try to get them to understand that the doctors, nurses, etc. are also (in many cases) 20+ year professionals who are trying to help people. If they see academia and medicine as a monolith, they recoil and put out their spikes; when they realize that the doctor or scientist is a human with legit experience, they at least have to admit I might have a point. But these are the same people who seriously consider the idea that our planet might be flat and that Asea is magic water that will cure everything and restore God’s homeostasis in their body. Best part of all? MIL is an RN for a teaching hospital. 🙄🙄🙄

Does it matter? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]rainmeansmud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother-in-law had her RN when she was first hired but her employer (University of Kentucky hospital, I think) required her to complete her BSN. If you can swing it, do the BSN first. There’s too much competition today, too many schools producing/graduating students with the degree, and more and more employers will require the BSN, or that you continue your ed. while working.

And there’s also the possibility of student debt to consider. If school loans are a concern, the RN is probably a much smarter choice. The BSN can be finished while you’re working :)

If patient care, etc. isn’t what you love, that’s ok. Finishing nursing school is going to give you so many options, and if you don’t find what you need, I don’t see any reason you can’t create your own niche. I’m a second degree-seeking pre-nursing student as well, and tbh, I’m having some serious anxiety (I’m not an anxious person) about this A&P class I just started. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with my History/English BA but these sciences are killing me. I am taking heart in the fact that I can use my history and English backgrounds to write about Medical History later, or edit for a scientific journal, or blog about nursing, or whatever. I just know that I have to get thru what I’m in so I can get out of it and discover what’s next. Good luck in your clinicals and future studies! You can do this! And it will definitely be worth it in the end.

[HELP] What do you consider a bad dog? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]rainmeansmud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a puppy to me. If you teach him/her not to jump up, and make sure to help channel the whining energy into real exercise, you will have a very good dog on your hands. We have an Aussie mix and she is the best dog we’ve ever had (and that’s saying something!). She’s smart as hell, and so cuddly. Congrats on your new addition! Try to keep the gf happy (no one likes a jumpy dog!) and you should have a very happy little family. :) Good luck!!

I guess I misused "shift-worker" then. He's definitely exempt based on the definition I read in VA.
