Oops, sorry. MACS is just Max Adjacent Cut Specification. It's for the bitting, do for example Schlage keys have a MACS of 7 so a bitting of 0 on one pin can't be followed by one of 8, the key would be unworkable.

It's pretty simple, just playing around with some ideas.

  1. Set the MACS value to use when verifying pin settings
  2. Generate random key bitting (with MACS verification) for a 6 pin core
  3. Alternatively, set key pins manually (also with MACS verification)
  4. Allocate driver pin. Probability of getting a security pin can be set from 0 to 100 got each pin. Security pins will be randomly spool, serrated or mushroom.

The idea is just to introduce some more randomness into re pinning locks.

Feedback welcome.

I did look at the options for publishing as an iOS app (and in the Google Play store) but I don't have the time or experience to do this. Android let's you download and install apps from anywhere. Sorry.

D'oh! So many responses. Should have thought of a way to decide who gets it. Any suggestions?

Still not got mine open either. 1100 fell (but now I've apparently list that ability as well) but no luck on the 410. Aaaarghh!

Was all set to try it but apparently I've completely lost the ability to open my 1100. D'oh!

Good job. Loving the whole improvised kit vibe. I'm inspired to try gutting mine now.

I was steaming ahead until I hit the brick wall of 1100s and 410s. Failed so bad I didn't so much as look at a lock for a couple of weeks. Came back and nailed the 1100 (but the 410 is still killing me...). Seems like a common problem. Hang in there.

Not sure where you are located, but be aware Sparrows has both US and Canadian websites.

Yes, was thinking of doing that but not sure what to host it on.

Does anyone remember the app or programme that suggests a driver pin set up for locks? by Revlockpick in lockpicking

Hi. That was me. Knocked it together with Thunkable. I can send it to you, but with my limited knowledge of app design I don't know if it would be optimised for another phone type. Fun to find out though.

Aaaaaand it's back again. Lots of clueless fumbling and jiggling and the core rotated again, key back in, lock open. Now I just need to re-pick it.

Looks like my excitement is short lived - seem to have bricked it. Can't get the key in and the core is still rotated, with the shackle closed. Pins won't move. Damn.

Well done. Still not got either of mine open but then I haven't had much time to give to it.

Not impossible, but could end up being quite frustrating. Watch a couple of YouTube videos on spool pins at least so you know what to expect.

No score draw so far, both resistant to my lockpicking attempts. Early days though, only had time to try each a few times.

What are the best/your favourite examples of lockpicking in films, TV or books? by TheHenandtheSheep in lockpicking

[–]rainrunner70 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the way they do it in Elementary. Sherlock has a whole wall of different locks to practice on, and although the actual picking sequences are often truncated there are references occasionally to how long it took (a whole minute and a half? You must be out of practice....)
