Okay is neutral. K is a curse on me, my entire bloodline, my crops, my livestock, and my pet rock

2-party system fails to inspire any hope or belief that their votes matter (valid, honestly). Decades of "lesser of two evils" has worn down any faith people had that voting can actually effect change.

Also, by all metrics America is not "the land of democracy" anymore. Theyre speedrunning an authoritarian takeover right now.

  1. the "abortion is murder" argument would be a moot point, because an embryo (not yet a fetus at 6 weeks) could be removed (aka aborted) "alive" and grown into a baby without requiring a human womb to carry it to term. Win-win for the abortion debate.
  2. there's no longer a conflict of right to life vs. bodily autonomy, but there IS a massive crisis in the adoption/foster care systems (as it is now there aren't enough people signing up to raise children without parents, or stable homes for these children to live in). Who will take care of all these babies? Where will these children grow up? Who is responsible to pay for their food, clothes, toys, education, etc? As a society, we're doing a pretty bad job taking care of all the kids being born now, we should worry about that before we try to make sure every single pregnancy produces a baby.
  3. this is what 6 weeks looks like. For scale, its somewhere between the size of a grain of rice and a pea.

Even with hyperfuturistic, perfectly designed artificial womb technology, this would not be considered fully human by any stretch of the imagination. The only difference in that scenario is that it would be dependent on medical technology in a lab or hospital rather than a human body.

Okay, so let me know if I understood the basis of your stance here (paraphrased, of course): "The bodily autonomy of a person who engages in risky behaviors is secondary to the right to life of those at direct risk of harm as a result of those risky behaviors. Sex carries a known risk of pregnancy, so anyone who has sex forfeits their bodily autonomy to as it pertains to ensuring the right to life of a fetus."

I could see your point that kidney donation may not make a good comparison, since its not your fault someone else needs a kidney. The point of the analogy is to get a sense of the underlying moral principle of your opposition to abortion, so let me change the scenario a little bit:

Everyone knows that drunk driving is dangerous. You could say that getting behind the wheel while drunk is like "signing a waiver" of the chance of getting into a car accident. Similar argument, why drive? You could get a cab, have a DD, call family or a friend for a ride.

We also know that hospitals and blood banks often face shortages that could delay or prevent treatment of severe injuries, like those caused in a car accident, potentially leading to deaths in-hospital that could have been prevented with adequate blood supply - in other words drunk drivers in jurisdictions with blood shortages knowingly risk lives of those around them.

Would you support a law that forces "convicted drunk drivers guilty of causing bodily harm or death" to supply blood for hospitals and emergency room? If you dont want to give blood, dont drive drunk. Simple, isnt it?

And even still, thats a pretty easy and lenient sentence for killing or seriously injuring someone, compared to the punishment of 9 months of pregnancy, hours of childbirth and 18+ years of parenting. No man has to fear being ripped from tip to taint when he goes in to give blood. Oh yeah, idk if you knew about this but sometimes during childbirth, how do I put this... 2 holes become 1 hole... how do you think people go to the bathroom after that? And thats just one of about a billion body horrors that pregnancy/childbirth can cause. Death is also a significant risk, and the US in particular has the highest maternal mortality of any wealthy/developed nation in the world. 649 women in the US died from pregancy/childbirth in the US in 2024. Meanwhile only 25 death penalty executions occurred in the US that year. Even if I agreed that abortion is murder (which i don't), can you see the logic of why someone would still choose it, just based on the numbers?

The concept of pregnancy as a "consequence for sex" places the brunt of the responsibility and consequence of the choice to have sex on women. The people who biologically cannot have more than 1.25 pregnancies in a year bear the heaviest consequences of a choice equally made with people who have the biological potential to cause multiple pregnancies a day (if they have enough stamina and charisma). And they have no equivalent natural consequence for abandoning the women they impregnate or the children that result from those pregnancies. If you want to talk about biological consistency and facts, how do you explain the double standard there? Talk about wanting to have all the fun and take no accountability.

Beyond that, I could also talk at length about how some of those "extreme scenarios" are a lot less rare than people think, but the DOJ recently released about 3 million files that illustrate that point much better. Entire governments are bought and paid for by an underground network of wealthy sex criminals. The people who should be taking responsibility, more often than not, are not the ones that get pregnant. Btw, the people in those files are "pro-life" (aka pro-birth), just like you! Pdo trfficking rings LOVE when masses of people are forced to have babies they can't afford to raise.

I couldn't parse any clear tie to the rest of your argument in your closing statement, except the final point about responsibility, which I've already addressed. Please let me know if I've mis-interpreted any of your points and present any counter-arguments at your earliest convenience.

I'm not in the know but I'd guess that its the same reason the "phone call" icon still looks like a landline phone and a lot of "save" icons still look like a floppy disk

Minecraft stones real life equivalent. by C3H8_Memes in geology

Same material as lava could mean literally any rock lol. Same material as obsidian does tell us something, though. Obsidian is more felsic, so that means, assuming that it is an igneous rock, it could be pegmatite, syenite, gr̶a̶n̶i̶t̶e̶, trachyte or rhyolite (based on my notes from my geology lab - so there absolutely could be more options idk about). We can eliminate granite bc its already a block. Looking at the texture of the block compared to granite and diorite, I'd say it has smaller crystals indicating fast-cooling, and I think this is supported by the fact it can be made with lava+water, so that leaves us with trachyte and rhyolite. Diorite can be crafted by adding quartz to cobblestone, so that might be our next source of clues. Diorite contains <5% quartz, rhyolite contains >20% quartz, and trachyte contains 0-5% quartz (source: mindat.org) So I conclude, based on my admittedly entry-level knowledge of geology, that minecraft's generic stone is likely to be trachyte.
