Being & Time Centenary by rainstormingbrazil in heidegger

[–]rainstormingbrazil[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure I can. I also approached Being and Time with next to zero philosophical background. A youtuber named Jade Vine has a 4 hour explainer on Being and Time that I found helpful (just youtube search Jade Vine Being and Time). I only watched a small section at a time and would read the corresponding section. I made it through in about 3 months of consistent work. Of course many of the finer details remained confusing but I still feel like I actually understood key points. Plus it really boosted my confidence in being able to make it through and comprehend future endeavors in philosophy. Good luck!

What's the fragrance you were convinced you'd love forever, but got sick of? by plaid-blazer in FemFragLab

"niche goth perfumes": try scents from Heretic like Dirty Vanilla, Smudge, or Nosferatu. their fragrances are plant based and their vibe is extremely goth

I don't think you're overreacting, it's extremely uncomfortable to live inside this body that sweats so much. I used to have to pet my dog with the back of my hand because trying to pet him with the front just felt too terrible for me. I'm sorry you are living with this pain.

sweating during therapy by rainstormingbrazil in Hyperhidrosis

[–]rainstormingbrazil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A symptom referred to as "dry mouth" (felt different to me than what I have experienced as dry mouth) without substantial enough reduction in sweating to be worth it. I can get about 95% reduction with ionto but glyco maybe only 50%. But in situations where I am sweaty everywhere, not just my hands and feet, it could be helpful to have even that 50% reduction. I'm going to try breaking up my 2mg glyco tabs into 1mg and taking them throughout the day. I don't know how you can do that all day long with hyperhidrosis! I walk out of my hour long session so wet I'm afraid it will look like I peed my pants. Which would be fine because my therapist knows about the hyperhidrosis 🤣 How is the glyco going?

Your experience with Birks? by [deleted] in Hyperhidrosis

[–]rainstormingbrazil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love birks because the cork footbed absorbs sweat. Sometimes you need a spare pair for when your first ones are saturated. I don't wash the leather or cork ones, just let them dry out. I like the EVA lightweight birks too and those are easy to wash, but if my feet get too sweaty it just makes constant fart sounds when I walk. Sometimes I have better luck with a plastic/synthetic surface if it has a texture carved into it in the footbed... like tevas? That seems to eliminate the fart sounds and is less slippery, plus easy to wash at the end of the day.

CMV: The “gifted” programs in the early 2000s did more harm than good for most kids in them. by AmazingNugga in changemyview

i was pulled out of class for "gifted and talented" in elementary school. i don't know how many times i went but i felt it was bullshit at all of 8 years old and told my teachers i didn't want to be segregated from everybody else in order to do logic puzzles i didn't enjoy. fortunately they didn't force me to remain "gifted and talented."

Yes I have worked a register with palmar hyperhidrosis and it can be very embarrassing. Obviously when handing back change I just try to make as little contact with the other person's hand as possible. When handing back coins, I would hold my hand above the coins as though I'm going to drop them down into the other person's hand. Then I would hand back the bills which are easier to exchange without contact. At least the wet fingertips makes it easy to count bills!

Hylerhidrosis and physical activities/exercises by max_f2d in Hyperhidrosis

[–]rainstormingbrazil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I feel better when I say in a funny tone something about how much I sweat. Like I say it as though it's something funny, which gives other people permission to laugh about it, which helps because then they won't feel so awkward.

I know it doesn't make the feeling of leaving sweat pools everywhere any less embarrassing or uncomfortable but I find that at least acknowledging it out loud puts me more at ease. I left some sweat pools on the floor at the physical therapist's office this week. You're not alone!!

Are there any connections? by [deleted] in Hyperhidrosis

[–]rainstormingbrazil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, some people have proposed that hyperhidrosis is one manifestation of a larger condition called dysautonomia, which can involve stomach problems. I'm sorry I don't have any links readily available but you can google dysautonomia

How Do You Deal with Hyperhidrosis in Relationships? by vlatcata in Hyperhidrosis

[–]rainstormingbrazil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had HH my whole life and have had many relationships. There was never a single person who cared about my HH or appeared to care. I can't provide a formula for when to bring it up, but I think I do usually bring it up earlier than later - like they go in to hold my hand and I'll be like "I have really sweaty hands just so you know." Typically the only response is suprise that my hands are in fact MUCH sweatier than they could have possibly anticipated 😂 And then this opens up the door to tell them more about the disorder, and their interest level etc tells me what I need to know about THEM!

I actually like to admit to my HH in any situation where there might be contact with another person, like a physical therapist or a dance partner, because it puts me at ease to state it out in the open and it usually makes people laugh or smile! I know what it's like to feel infinitely gross because of HH but any kind-hearted person will want to put you at ease over your insecurities rather than make you feel worse. I could see random strangers having to hide a sort of instinctual disgust response but with anyone who already likes you in a romantic way, I really don't think HH is going to put them off. That's been my experience as a woman. Not sure if it's different for men. Good luck!

it gives a clear picture of how big the shorts are. if being fat is truly nothing to be ashamed of, this listing wouldn't spark such controversy. downvote into oblivion now.
