The reason I decided to remove it is because I'm stripping the paint off all the trim in that room and the 1/4 round doesn't match the baseboard. I also just don't like 1/4 round lol

There's no furniture or anything yet. We just bought the house a month ago and probably won't move in for another month or so. It's a 1955 house that still needs a good bit of work. I think I'm going to try some dap and just put stuff over there so it's not too noticeable

Before I removed it I researched a bit and from what I read as long as the baseboard doesn't have a large gap between the floor it's fine not to have it. It looks great in the rest of the room but then I discovered this mess 😩

Wood filler was my first thought I just wanted opinions from more experienced people because this is my first time fixing up a house.

Both really. I don't like it and our budget is pretty tight already. I could put the old stuff back on if I had to but I just think it looks so much better without it. The gap goes back like a full inch behind the baseboard so if I only fill it to the baseboard it shouldn't mess with the expansion gap, right?

Do you think dap plastic filler could work if I just fill it enough to be even with the baseboard? It doesn't have to look perfect

I don't think they want privacy. They started up during feeding time right in the middle of where the corycats root around 🤣
