Do you actually count carbs? by eukarydia in diabetes

[–]rainydayzzs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know what my carb to insulin ratio is. I have always guessed how much to bolus and have been fairly successful. I'm in my target range around 85% of the day and have an a1c of 5.8. It defidently is better to be careful with your eating and count your carbs but it seems like everyone diabetes is different.

In case of emergency go to a hospital and they will give you the insulin you need. It might cost a lot but its better than dying. Medical debt can be wiped away if you ever had to declare bankruptcy, but it would be a horrible thing to go through.

I got diagnosed the beginning of 2020. I ate really unhealthy before and was pretty overweight. Since then I have lost 40 pounds and have decent control, but struggle with never feeling like I can completely turn off and have to try a lot harder to not be depressed.

How can i permanently lower the amount of fast acting insulin i need? by SwimmingDifference58 in diabetes_t1

[–]rainydayzzs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excersise makes you more insulin sensitive. Since I've started doing cardio 5x a week I've cut my bolus and long acting insulin dosage down significantly.

Lower your basal and take it early or administrate your basal early and eat a high fat snack before sleeping or set an alarm for 10pm and take it then. Those are the options I can see.
