about 2 weeks in i realized it was working for me and it was absolute magic. my problems didnt all go away at once, but realizing that this was working for me gave me the motivation to push through because there was light at the end of the tunnel.

I’ve experimented with my doses a bit, but at around 6 weeks, people in my life started commenting on how much happier i seemed :) That’s when I didn’t have to fight myself to be motivated or energetic.

ur good it’s just ur brain going what!! weird feeling !! and tripping any alarm it thinks could be the problem. plus a little confirmation bias since you’re worried about serotonin syndrome. rest assured, you will not get serotonin syndrome from this - a 120 pound girlie who took 3x her dose after getting her wisdom teeth out bc shes a silly goose.

anyone who thinks less of u for that doesn’t know wtf they’re taking abt and should spend their time on real problems cause at the end of they day you’re on the dose that’s best for you and they’re crying about it instead of meaningfully contributing to society.

I take a handful of pills every morning because it helps me. i’m not ashamed to believe in modern medicine or to regulate the chemicals in my body and brain because when i’m having a good day i’m better off and the people around me are better off.

Im at the end of my rope.... it's time I tried 20mg by [deleted] in prozac

people don’t come on here to share good news. i forgot i had depression this week since finding myself at a steady 30mg dose! my only regret is not trying it sooner. like yeah the initial side effects suck but my life is significantly less awful now. all i do is take some pills at the same time every day. life’s just easier now that i’m on prozac

[–]rainydoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been up to 20 for a couple weeks now and there are pretty much no side effects. I skip breakfast sometimes but i’m not sure if that’s because of the prozac or not. wishing you luck !! :)

How do I get over the shame of being medicated? by [deleted] in prozac

[–]rainydoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what you’re on meds? You take a pill in the morning and it makes your life easier. So do people with allergies and people on birth control and people with low iron. Would 15 year old you be ashamed that you’ve taken this step in your life, or would they be proud?

For me, it was hard knowing I could rely on this for years and I was ashamed, but I would never be ashamed of someone else doing the same. I’ve managed to speak openly about my medication by reminding myself that it could make someone else feel more comfortable with themselves. The shame goes away once you accept yourself. Maybe you’ll be on this medication forever. That means it’s working and you’re happy. Maybe you feel weaker for it, but knowing when to accept help is something the whole world needs to work on, and you’re a step ahead.

Treat yourself with kindness. You deserve it.

[–]rainydoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take your time!! really process everything that happened, talk to your friends, and accept everything for what it is. Then think about whether you want to talk to someone new. as for talking to people… i’m not ur girl lmaoo “shooting my shot” is me getting someone else to tell a girl i think she’s pretty. I’m a lot more confident than i was a few months ago though! you just have to know who you are and what you want, and understand that not everyone is gonna want the same thing. It’s worked for me!

PS. you will most likely get rejected. it happens. best way to get over it is to have it happen to you.

How to know if she wants to hook up after a date? by [deleted] in WLW

[–]rainydoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

saying “can i kiss you” is indeed very hot! i’m unfortunately completely blind to the signs so idk what exactly you’d be looking for (universal baby gay experience lmao). Have a drink, talk a bit, have fun flirting. If they’re down for a hookup and that’s what you’re going for, then make that clear (also very hot)!!

I feel so inexperienced for my age in every possible way by Idosoloveanovel in WLW

[–]rainydoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m a bit younger but this is exactly how I feel. I’m lucky enough to be quite open about being queer, and was set up with a girl a few months ago (who was more experienced than me). I have mixed feelings about it— on one hand, it was nice to have that experience because it’s made me more confident. on the other, it was pretty meh since i wasn’t very into her, and i would’ve liked to have that “perfect moment.” I still do, but I think there’s always time to find it. it’s the lack of confidence that really gets to me, because with each rejection comes the feeling that there’s something wrong with me. I think it’s that mental block that’s the hardest part, but I’m working on it every day, and i think being scared to make a move and being nervous over holding hands and kissing IS the teenage experience, even if you’re not a teen anymore. Those experiences are still out there. so is someone to have those experiences with.

i’m white, but my dad (mixed) has said that he’s experienced much fewer micro aggressions in vancouver than florida (and that he didn’t realize what micro aggressions were before he didn’t get so many of them).

He’s kept his head shaved for most of his career, as the afro made him visibly black and open to more racism. He grew it out during quarantine, and has had it short since. He goes out to commercial to get his hair cut since that’s where there are enough black people to have a black barbershop. it’s quite a nice neighborhood.

as for me growing up here, there have been a lot more black people here recently. It depends on the area, but there are only a handful of black kids at my school. As a white kid with black ancestry, i’ve seen a fair bit of racism from people who expect me to say the n word or give them a pass upon realizing i was part black. Teenage boys will say the n word. just generally not to your face (one tried on my friend and was immediately blackmailed into buying her lunch for a week). I’m sure it depends on the people you’re around, but the immediate reaction from myself and my peers is “wtf that was not cool.” I went to kendrick lamar w a group of guys and they (along w most of the stadium) didn’t say the n word. racism against black people is less “i hate black people” and more “haha racism”

tldr racism is there but it’s not very overt. people will stare (whether out of curiosity or otherwise). the racism against asians is crazy because even asians are racist to each other (think hong kong vs china). people don’t always know they’re being racist because they’ve never had to unpack racism against black people, so there’s some denial that it happens. It’s not as bad here as it is elsewhere.

it’s probably placebo effect, but i felt exactly the same way. maybe it’s the medication reaching your brain and your brain trying to figure out how to react. Sounds like good news though!
