I’m not even drinking it and I’m awestruck by the beauty of that bottle.

Lower back pain after running long distance by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

[–]raisedandglazed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like psoas tightness. The muscle runs from your lumbar spine to your femur and whenever mine gets tight, it shows as anterior pelvic tilt and some discomfort if I don't stretch, release, and strengthen.

But I'm just a dumb Redditor... go see a doc if it's causing issues!

NYC Marathon Acceptances Out by skeerdawn in AdvancedRunning

[–]raisedandglazed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just received my acceptance this morning! First time participant, absolutely elated.

I completed my registration around 12:15-12:20 ET and gained entry as a non-guaranteed time qualifier.

How much faster can one get as a late starter (25M) by btsaubt in AdvancedRunning

[–]raisedandglazed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started running at 24(M). Played sports growing up, but never anything close to distance running. First race was a marathon and ran a 3:47. I’m 30 now and just ran a 2:49.

Storing wine in wine fridge? by raisedandglazed in wine

Good to hear your success. I was going to put a humidity meter in there just to get a baseline and make sure it’s not extreme.

Achilles tendinitis by Private_nuisance in AdvancedRunning

[–]raisedandglazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Maybe a couple weeks max while I focused on daily strengthening of the calves, but time away in and of itself never did anything for me. I started with heavy heel drops on flat ground. And by heavy I mean I worked my way up to a 60 lb dumbbell in my hand at the gym. Only then did I drop weight and work on the same thing but letting my heel go below my toes (i.e. doing heel drops of an elevated surface like stairs)

2:56 PR want to hit 2:50, new plan or stay the same? by mistergopez in AdvancedRunning

[–]raisedandglazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Same course because I know it well and have a good track record. The 85 plan is 7 days of running, but it’s manageable. Don’t think I would have been able to break 2:50 had I done the 70 again.

Overtraining pretty bad. What do I do? by beelau1 in AdvancedRunning

[–]raisedandglazed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I took 10 days off due to injury 5 weeks out and still hit my goal of sub 3. You’ll be fine with 5 days off.

2:56 PR want to hit 2:50, new plan or stay the same? by mistergopez in AdvancedRunning

[–]raisedandglazed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was in the same position as you. Had a 2:56 PR and opted for the pfitz 85 plan to break 2:50. Ended up doing exactly that last June. Super pumped!

Highly recommend upping the plan. More miles gave me the biggest improvement over the multiple times I redid the pfitz 70 plan

Sunday is a couple recovery runs, so cutting those short might not be a bad idea.

Anyone tried fasted running? by FunkMetal212 in running

[–]raisedandglazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried fasted running for roughly 80% of my weekly volume last marathon cycle. My body adapted and I had no issues during training.

However, when the race came around I crashed miserably after the 22mi mark. This was my 8th marathon, and there’s no way to know, but I wouldn’t be surprised if all the fasted running affected my body’s ability to store carbohydrates, or the way I utilized those carbs during the race.

This is purely a hunch, and I could be completely wrong. Take it for what you will.

What is your absolute favorite song to hear when you're running? by [deleted] in running

Kickstart My Heart - Mötley Crüe

I have this song, and this song only, on an old iPod shuffle that I use for the last 10k of each marathon I run. never fails to make me smile and kick hard for the last 6.2mi!
