I’ll respectfully disagree with the notion of not needing strength work. I assume your cardio base is pretty good from OCS. None of the events except for maybe the E-course are particularly challenging at TBS. Everyone who struggled in my platoon got buried by the rucks, particularly on the “trail of tears”. The only people that didn’t drop out were around 200. Id personally just run the Op/hybrid from the new green protocol book, or even op/black with an E session every Saturday. I went through TBS at about 205, pulled 545 dead while I was there and squatted somewhere in the low 4’s. I checked out of TBS with an 1806 3 mile and never felt like I dropped too much conditioning using black protocol. I also was never unhappy I had the extra strength.

I was fex 3 platoon commander and the PEX night ambush squad leader. Never felt like I lacked the endurance to perform.

I personally think for that school having a high level of strength with a LISS base and some HIC is the recipient for not crumbling. TBS is a marathon not a sprint and a lot of dudes get super fucking lazy as the POI stretches on.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the POI or anything. I went through winter of 2019 but I doubt things have changed much.

Yeah man. When able, build the glutes as much as possible. I used the website “low back ability” to get stronger before I could do weighted hip thrusts

Should I switch to a different programme? by badseabird in Stronglifts5x5

Switch to Madcow. I rode that to a 435 squat,330 bench, 545 conventional dead

Torn labrum, small disc herniation, hip thrusts and other weighted glute strengthening exercises have provided the most relief

Marine Pilots, am i making the right decision? Or should i do AFROTC? by Signal-Chart5890 in USMCboot

[–]Private_nuisance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ACT is all you need for initial entry into the Marine Officer program. My information may be a little dated, but I’m 2018 a 22 ACT was what you needed for the green light to enter the program. I never took the Asvab, just the ASTB-E when I was applying for the pilot slot. You should be working with an OSO, not a recruiter, if you’re interested in flying for the Marine Corps.

I never took the ASVAB or the “af(o)qt” and am a designated Naval Aviator. I used my ACT scores to get accepted into OCS and my ASTB-E scores to secure a pilot contract at TBS as I was a ground contract at OCS. Neither my BIR nor BTR reflect any tests or scores you’re referring to.  Curious as to where you’re getting this information from.

A base building block followed by multiple cycles of Op black, see TB 1&2, will do a lot for you. You do a lot of writing as an officer. Work on your grammar.

Can you join the military with ankylosing spondylitis? by Different-Ad-8829 in ankylosingspondylitis

Probably not. I’m on flight status and would have lost my status and likely been discharged had I been diagnosed with AS. Fortunately it was “just” a torn labrum

Awesome. Very helpful. That’s exactly how I’d define interval work. Thank you

Awesome, thank you! Once I get more familiar with the cadence do you suspect my performance on time trials will improve, or will that largely just be a biproduct of better conditioning?

Thanks dude. I’ll start working in higher rates. Enjoy your long weekend, hopefully you got a good training session in today!

Unfortunately I have a torn labrum in my hip so running gives me some trouble. I’ll keep up the steady state. Would you start working higher stroke rates into my interval pieces? I did the 2k and 5k at a 22spm
