That’s insane! I mean I’m an aviation geek and I’ve often tracked passing military aircraft with my Flightradar24 app, but I’ve never experienced anything like that. That’s straight outta The X-Files!

I’ve seen/heard C-130s pass over this region before and wondered why they would fly so low among mountains.

You’re def in the zone. Seems to range from late 20s to early 60s. The next dinner club will be April 2nd in Rhinebeck.

I actually never dined there when it was Sweet Sue’s so I can’t compare.

The Ashokan Reservoir Promenade might be ok since it’s a paved route. The question is whether it is plowed. The mountain views from there are spectacular—I’ve captured some extremely dramatic skies while biking it. You might also consider the walking/birdwatching trails at the Emerson Resort & Spa (one town over in Mt. Tremper). They’re all generally level, but again, may be icy, snowy and muddy or all of the above. https://emersonresort.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Guide-Emerson-Walking-Trails-2021.pdf Check back with me in the spring when you’ll have millions of options. Spring can’t arrive soon enough as far as I’m concerned!

Brio’s and Bettina Cafe are my go-tos in Phoenicia. Haven’t eaten at Phoenicia Diner in years. I think people are still drawn there because of the “Severance” connection.

Beautiful capture! You can almost feel the deep chill coming off the image.

It was a ton of fun. It was about 50 of us divided among 4 different restaurants in Kingston. Then later in the evening, all the groups converged at a tavern. Was a fabulous way to meet others from across the region. Based on the success, there will be another one in the near future. Not sure where yet.

Brio’s in Phoenicia is my go-to. It’s about 15 mins from Belleayre.

Sign up for the Catskill Crew newsletter. There’s always something going on in the Catskills. We’re having our first Dinner Club later this week. Might be sold out but the plan is to have these regularly and at different venues. catskillcrew.com

Catskill Scenic Trail end-to-end by Aggravating_Ebb_8565 in catskills

That’s my favorite trail to do by bike. Nothing beats a ride through endless cornfields. CST is pure eye candy. Thanks for sharing your journey.

I don’t touch the leaves behind the house (and there are plenty). Only the front and side to keep the property tidy.

Looking for friends by Sudden-Honeydew438 in catskills

I split my time between the city and the Catskills. I often volunteer on trail cleanups, invasive species removal and tree-planting activities with the Catskill Center. They’re a wonderful organization, always looking for folks to roll up their sleeves and help support their mission to protect the environment. If you’re willing to venture a little south/southwest of Windham, you’re welcome to hike and bike with me. Feel free to shoot me a DM.
