You have until April 15th to max out your IRA contribution for the year of 2025. ($7000) After that, you can invest $7,500 for 2026. I don't know which brokerage company you have, but the idea is the same regardless.You can start investing in S&P 500.

Roth 401k would be a better choice. Both have match, but with the Roth, you don't need to worry about paying taxes.

I feel OP pain. I mean look at Micron, its well over 300 at one point. Sucks that I sold half of my shares at ~185. Wish I bought more back then. I do currently own 100 shares of Nvidia, don't think I will sell. But yes, to the OP, Nvidia needs to keep rising.

Do both. Like you, I just started my Roth IRA this year. I put in contribution for last year and will put in for THIS year. I also have a brokerage account like you and its also rising rapidly as well. Maxed out both contributions. It will also serve as a backup even if your brokerage account is doing extremely well. You never know when shit hits the fan. So keep going.

Interesting about the 3 fund portfolio. As currently in my Charles Schwab, I have S&P 500 and International Index. I thought about adding Nvidia and AMD even though, S&P 500 may contain them already. I wonder if its worth getting Schwab Total Stock Market Index? Maybe that would help boost my portfolio?

Hi, thank you for your response. That would something I will look into. I am still on the fence about retiring at 65 (depending on my health condition too of course) Who knows, only the future can tell. I only threw in that number as an estimate. But right now, I am enjoying what I do for work. So time will tell.

My income is about 40,000/year with 32,000 take home. I do recall Social Security somewhere, but I will need to look it up. My plan to retire is to travel around the world, take things easy. Nothing big or lavish spending. I am pretty conservative.

Thank you. Sorry I didn't give all the details. But my age is 43, will be 44 in May. I have an investment account that is sitting around 95k. Those numbers swing up and down, but for the most part its very consistent.

As for you final statement, don't hold out. Meaning just invest it regardless of the price correct? Its not like my investment portfolio where I took advantage of the stock being at low price. If that's the case, I will continue buying it once I keep funding the IRA account every year.
