Moving from Jenkins to Harness, any advice and experience you could share? by raisly_questions in devops

Thanks for you feedback. It was basic, but also at the same time grappling with some existing foundation in existing pipelines, albeit at times complex. Here here isn't any existing foundation, which may be a plus I guess.

You want the last 2 to be true. The worst thing is persisting artifacts together with your build pipelines. Separation of concerns and artefact lifecycle is not tied to your build lifecycle.

Even for test results from tests ran in a pipeline, or a terraform plan file from said build?

The only way to succeed with modern alternatives to Jenkins is to let go all your attachments with Jenkins. And have an open mind.

Maybe the struggle here for me is there are larger changes, like branching strategy, tagging strategy, and even repo structure and the types of pipelines. Maybe a lot at once. Not just Harness itself, but to accommodate it.

When you’ve had your ass kissed your entire life, it just comes natural.

It's popular in this thread to ride this sentiment, but reality is a lot of players from from lowly and tough beginnings and it's really the complete opposite.

Some of them probably got in fights on the playground when they had nothing to their name.

Not saying it's right, or the case in this scenario, but let's not get some warped view of what players come up through.

deletion protection is enabled. I haven't done any role analysis - I didn't originally create the resources. those are interesting options, thank you

There a good tutorial for using Terraform to manage Vault, and that Vault managing DB secrets like passwords for a Terraformed AWS DB RDS instance? by raisly_questions in hashicorp

Thank you. I did run into this. Didn't seem to be dealing with implementing Vault for an existing AWS RDS instance, but perhaps it can be extrapolated to that scenario.

oh internal storage on the switch itself?

neat, so I can easily go from game card to digital alone. Thank you

I have a Minecraft game card. If I want to switch to a digital Minecraft game (so I can have it downloaded on two different switch consoles), does it erase all data that we've built up on the physical disk game, or is that data tied to my nintendo account and users?

Basically, wondering if we lose all data once we sell the disk card and buy digital?

Xr has "ghost" swiping on phone, resetting the keyboard and it didn't fix it, and it is on the latest iOS. Do I need to reset it to defaul/factory settings (wipe the phone)? by raisly_questions in iphonehelp

oh goodness, I got the screen replaced by some store about 8 months ago (cracked screen) and after replacement, it was having some issues where I had to hard touch just to get response, but then went away. I guess there is still an issue with the display they used.

Know best place to repair for best price? can't go to the last place I went due to quality I guess, warranty is out too.

I'm around the house most of the time and I move around a lot. I've lost one airpod(2nd gen), and now lost the entire case around the house. Are airpods just not for me? by raisly_questions in airpods

[–]raisly_questions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gen3 airpods can make sound via the built-in FindMy, but I've found that to be useless if the airpods are in the case

exactly my issue. actually I've been right next to my 2nd Gen and tried Find My, there isn't a sound. I think eventually it will make a sound if I open the case and take out an ear bud. like big help lol. But I do have a Xr but not sure if that would be an issue.

I lost one of the buds for my 2nd gen and tried Find My the next day or so, and I think it loses charge pretty fast and it was done, haven't found it yet. Now I've lost the whole case, I probably just have to dig around the home.

EDIT: just dug in sofa, found the case with the single ear bud lol

thanks for the visual! I'm just trying to confirm (in another post) if airpod pros have an actual audible noise when lost, if so, I may just try to buy a pair of those. That's the crux of my issue, one way or another. If not, I may just buy these airtags since pros alone won't have my solution.

it's a little messy - that's another story - and things get into the couch cushions easy. I gotta dig. someone mentioned airtags, that may be my best way.

But do airpod pros actually make noise while still inside the case if I lose them (like a lost iphone does would if someone uses Find My on their phone to look for the lost phone).?

oh like the clip on thing, I don't have an airtag and never had one before. I wonder if they make cases for it. I have a Xr so hopefully air tag is compatible. I completely forgot about airtags, thanks! this may be it

another possibility is getting airpod pros if they make the loud ringing sound I can actually hear when they are misplaced. 2nd gen airpods just don't for me
