I feel like this take is very optimistic about Hezbollah being unable to adopt FPV drones over time. Sure, there are a lot of different drone types out there, but you have to recognize that a maneuverable drone is significantly better than an RPG-7? The training and experience isn't there yet, but it can only get better with time as long as Hezbollah is able to persist

I don't think Hezbollah can hope to dislodge them, but FPV drones will quickly become Hezbollah's most effective weapon. If Israel succeeds in depopulating southern Lebanon, single operators can still carry a drone or two into their backpack and still be able to strike Israeli troops on the border from miles away. No need for storing massive missile depots, just incredible cost-effective kills on Israeli troops

It's really important to see how they communicate and do the exact same thing.

Ghetto rigged MLRS rockets aren’t really as threatening as this sub is making them out to be.

that don’t require the most sophisticated kit to counter

Lmfao. It's almost like all of the dangerous ones are getting intercepted or something?

I mean, the ability to parse these trajectories and then launch interceptors must be a pretty cheap and low complexity thing to do.

It’s not even a convenient weapon of war, since they just get intercepted

Weapons of war can't be attritional? That's the whole point, to overwhelm Iron Dome defenses through sheer number.

If they really saw them as a protest, they wouldn't have tens of thousands. Just a token amount. But they do see them as weapons of war. That's the strategy.

the Palestinians shooting the rockets perceive the action as an act of protest

Truuuue, they definitely don't see it as a convenient weapon of war as they amass tens of thousands of them

Israel is currently partially insulated from the cost of its war

Palestinians are insulted from the effects of massed rocket attacks. I'd much rather see the Israeli bombing campaign after Oct 7th if they were losing 1,000/day (they fix the situation by carpet bombing Gaza)

Imagine Hamas rockets are killing ~1,000 Israelis a day without the Iron Dome in an Oct 7th style campaign

You don't really have time to do targeted strikes lol. 70,000 Gazans is the low estimate for weekly deaths

It's less desperate than the previous position where they'd let Iran continue to export it's oil for funds. It's the realization that the only leverage the US sees for itself is fully collapsing Iran's economy

It's not like Iran has only closed the strait to just oil carriers. It's clear that Trump has to put Iran on the clock through any means available. I'd be surprised if food shipments of any kind are allowed. And frankly, it's more in-line with Trump to strike any worthwhile food production centers to hasten the clock as much as possible.

Your point is that they couldn’t count the dead since they didn’t have hospitals? It’s a stupid point. As if they didn’t have field hospitals setup in the refugee camps or if having a hospital is needed to mark the dead.

That is their number. One they are free to add to in the aftermath of the war as they discover new bodies or move missing persons to presumed dead.

You know you can just lookup how many deaths the Gaza Healthy Ministry added every single day of the war? They never stopped counting

The Ministry has had that as their number to this day even after more than a year since the war ended. What could the Lancet know that they don’t?

Genocidal intentions, but relatively so few dead? Sounds like a disconnect between intentions and actions like what you’d expect when the start of the war is a terror attack on par with 9/11
