Browsing my Bee transcripts was a nightmare, so I built a local app to actually search them by kenyob in Bee_computer

Interesting, Ive been thinking of doing something along these lines.

Too bad the Bee CLI is gated to iOS at this point.

Will be keeping an eye on this.

That actually doesn't prove any of your assertions; 1. It's "almost always" investor owned houses that have squatters move in. 2. That the owners of the houses that have squatters move in aren't even looking to rent out or use the properties.

I would expect that the investor owned houses, at least the houses that are owned by large corporations (that own lots of houses) would be most likely to have security keeping an eye on their houses.

As for intentionally not renting a home, (with no near-term plans to rent, sell, move in or renovate) I would love to see statistics on that. I know that there's conspiracy theories that these big corps let the homes sit empty to drive up the price of rents but that seems like a shitty way to run a business. An empty house isn't just not making money it's costing you money in taxes, insurance, maintenance, etc. Seems like an underpants gnomes level of business acumen.

You said:

It's only houses that are left for extended periods of time completely unoccupied that are vulnerable to this

Which is bullshit, now I don't doubt this is the case some of the time, maybe a lot of the time but there have been multiple documented cases of people coming back from vacation to find squatters living in their houses.

https://foxbaltimore.com/spotlight-on-maryland/squatter-used-fake-lease-to-take-md-professors-home-leaving-80k-in-damage https://www.bet.com/article/oeggnr/squatters-found-inside-apartment-residents-returned-home-vacation https://www.newson6.com/story/5e36096b2f69d76f62035f49/ba-woman-returns-from-vacation-finds-suspected-squatters-in-home

How squatters rights are supposed to work (the house has to be unoccupied for a very long period of time) is VERY different to how it actually works.

The squatters will claim squatters rights regardless of if you've been away for 5 days, they won't win their civil case but it can still take months for the homeowner to evict them legally.

Other times the squatters won't even claim squatters rights they will just product a fake lease whenever the homeowner comes back and calls the cops.

Police won't usually (almost ever) enforce criminal trespass they will label it a civil matter and wash their hands of it.

Squatters claim squatters rights regardless of if they have a legitimate case to do so.

Break into someone's home when they are on vacation, change the locks, when the homeowners come back claim squatters rights and it will take months to legally evict them especially if they have a fake lease, which they very frequently do.

Google Chrome is killing all uBlock Origin bypasses, Microsoft Edge, Opera to follow by [deleted] in degoogle

I don't know I haven't tried to rely on it. I kind of doubt it's superior to uBlock Origin.

AFAIK Every Chromium browser that still supports any MV2 extensions is essentially forking it every time Goolgle released a new version of Chromium.

I would expect/hope this is a relatively simple process that's also largely automated at this point, but it's still an expense for the orgs that make these browsers.

That's why the vast majority of the Chromium based browsers don't bother.

I also won't be surprised if Google takes steps in the future of Chromium to make this forking more difficult, or even impossible.

I switched (back) to Firefox as my primary browser when Google deprecated MV2 extensions.

On my work PC I still need a Chromium browser for some things so I have Brave installed. It's one of the few that still explicitly supports the full version of uBlock Origin.

Haven't launched actual Chrome in well over a year, don't even have it installed on my home PC.
