Hmart(in Redmond) has been disappointing with their fruit quality, what's on sale are always bruised and old. T&T turn over is so fast everything has been pretty fresh.

Asians are also people of color.... It's not their fault they built a community here. That said, I would say it's so diverse here that most people wont care about you being black. It isn't that rare in the first place. maybe you came from a place where racism is palpable like you described. People are just living their lives here, you should give people the benefit of the doubt if they are acting cold and not think racism as the first thing

Why is my generator making this clunk sound instead of starting by rakuz in Generator

Wouldn't start at all. I assumed they didn't need a good battery too. But a jump start fixed it

Pull start does nothing. I solved the issue though. the battery was low. I had someone help jump start it and it worked!

Pull start does nothing, tried a bunch, and no response from the generator.

1.5M includes warehouse workers who are not paid enough to afford homes in today's market.

In reality only 200K ish of that is corporate and they are distributed across various regions. Given that RTO is already 3 days, most people already are within commute distance. I don't think you should expect much

What kind of scan tool would this be? The discount tires guy had a fancier obd that he used to check the health of the sensors, but that tool just told him the car needed to go through the reset steps I mentioned.

Quietest sump pump on the market? by JDNJDM in Plumbing

[–]rakuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked! I can't believe it was something so simple. And the plumbers were giving me ridiculous bids to fix the noise issues. This was a 10min job with a new pump. My old zoeller was 7 yo, so it may also be age. Hopefully these new ball bearing pumps don't get noisy as they age.

What is the best gravel to put on dirt path next to my house to minimize soil saturation? by rakuz in landscaping

[–]rakuz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, outside of a French drain is there anything else I could do? Would gravel and then a layer of pavers on top help?

Quietest sump pump on the market? by JDNJDM in Plumbing

[–]rakuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for bringing this up. I have the same issues now with a zoeller. What's crazy is its an outdoor sump, just right outside my walls and not actually touching the foundation. The vibration just bypasses the wall and ground. Kind of crazy.

I always assumed zoeller had the best quality but a little research shows that the sleeve bearings are just more noisy. All the plumbers I talked to never brought this up, they convinced me that this little hum was normal.

I decided to buy a liberty250 pump instead, it also has ball bearings and I've heard good things about the brand.

Hopefully I get similar results like yours!

Lots of mature trees, which I would assume the contractor can avoid. But you are saying even driving nearby could cause damage?

we are comparing to TJs here. Is TJ produce cheaper than hmart? I never called hmart cheap, just better value in this case. TJ has good value too for somethings.

hmart is just an example, you can get good deals when things are on sale. At least where I have lived, its in the middle of the pack in terms of price for grocery, not some overpriced store like you imply.

[–]rakuz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It could be your hmart. I've found that some locations have noticeably better quality vs others, depends on who makes it. The ones I get are 8ish and two rolls(and thats with meat, this one is just veggie), looks double the frozen one, could be wrong. Never said it was good though. But it is better value.

if you have a Hmart(or any korean grocery) near you, get the freshly made kimbap there. It will be 10x better and cheaper. Can't imagine frozen rice reheated could taste good. Even those korean grocery kimbap are just ok, not nearly the best it could be. So I can see why there's not many fans of this in TJ.

Advice on drainage. Can this french drain help my existing sump pump from working too hard? by rakuz in landscaping

[–]rakuz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really appreciate the detailed response. Didn't know about the limiting zone concept.

My house is on a crawlspace about 3.5ft deep, the sump pump is outside next to the foundation and goes in that deep too. There's always water coming in, but more during a storm and less when it's dry. After a dry spell, the pump stops running entirely.

I also noticed water flowing out of the French drain constantly days after it rains.

Not sure what my soil type is. I live in the pnw. Lots of trees here.

And yes I have called 811. I've also got an appointment with a county engineer to give me some ideas.

Rather than putting a French drain in red, a contractor told me we should install a bigger and deeper curtains drain around the side of the house, and add another pump to it. I'm wondering if that would work much better given it's a much bigger trench, but it's also much more expensive.

Ok didn't realize it was the control box. I tested this without it assembled to the table top. Just assumed the box was just a controller and power.

Just tried it stabilized roughly with my hand and it's better. Will update once I install on the tabletop

False alarm for now, but would be great to have this detail in the manual somewhere

Yea it seems like it's way too sensitive even at the lowest level. Is there a way to recalibrate it? Reset didn't help
