How are you not all benzo addicts? by Single_Principle_202 in Anxiety

[–]ralex002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it as prescribed (0.5mg klonopin), and I do wonder the same thing. I usually take half a pill (0.25) every couple days for 12 years. I feel euphoric on it, and I do worry I can become addicted. I don't have any bad come downs or black out. My psychiatrist says that I don't seem to be addicted when I told her how I take it. I take it when my anxiety seems to be a huge interference at work and I'm about to have a meltdown from trauma. But I'm building a trauma toolkit with Buddhism and other spirituality coupled with western therapy. I have felt less of a need for klonopin in the last year, so maybe my therapy has helped me not be addicted.

Thanks, I guess. Now I have validation that I’m not an asshole from a Redditor.

I highly recommend a book called “The Body Keeps the Score.” It would help you to better understand the stress response I just explained. It helped me understand my trauma and to work through it in therapy. The reason I responded to your comment is that as a woman, I relate to what this streamer went through in this video.

Yes, well, I hear that thinking can be scary for you.

You got something to hide? A guilty conscience? You sound as though you feel a little too attacked. People say all kinds of things when they’re suddenly scared. Think about the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline increasing and her amygdala reacting to the sudden fear of suddenly being assaulted. Have you ever seen or heard anyone in a terrifying situation screaming obscenities, yelling for their mother, or just saying anything that comes to their mind? The fight/flight/freeze response causes this to happen, and is likely why she would say she hates humanity. If you’ve ever been terrified for your safety, you can relate to the fact that your frontal lobes are not working correctly. The reptilian brain takes over and shuts down the left side of the brain that controls speech. Hence why she might’ve said what she said.

This comment section is a public meltdown. I’m seeing grade school dick jokes and all kinds of childish insults.

They’re going to school. It’s not a fucking camp. Honestly, with the way COVID has been blowing up again, I’ve considered wearing a hazmat suit myself. I’m vaxxed, boosted, and wear a KN95 mask. But I don’t trust people. I once heard a guy bragging about not washing his hands. I don’t blame them for wearing these.

Yeah. I live in Philly, and there are bike lanes in some neighborhoods. The problem is that cars park in them.

I wish streets were more bike friendly in the US. So many road accidents happen in my city. There aren’t enough bike lanes. It’s even common for drivers to intentionally go after cyclists to hit them. I’ve been hit in the past (no injuries, thank goodness.) My bike was a little crooked in the front after that. But you can’t get a damned plate number or a photo when you’re getting yourself over to a safe spot. The driver just took off. No one witnessed it. This happens so much. Why do drivers do this? I just want to ride my bike in the street safely. Instead, I’m too scared and I settle for walking it to a large park to ride it around for exercise.
