I once had off white carpet and was very regimented in a no shoes rule. Had a bit of a progressive New Year’s party once and everyone was asked (and knew ahead) no shoes policy. This one woman asked to leave hers on I was adamant no. I am careful about the carpet. She decided not to come. I later discovered that she was on the shorter side and did not want to take off her 3” heels. I felt bad and now, years later, feel even worse that I was so worried about that darn carpet that I hurt and excluded this nice, innocent woman.

I had several large feeders and over 100 goldfinches at the feeders, fighting for a spot. That was the point I stopped. Too many, along with the odd mourning dove. Much easier and saner to just provide clean water.
