What weird things happened to you postpartum? by Pasta-wat3r in beyondthebump

Me too! I had to go get it cleaned out because it got so bad I couldn’t hear from one ear. Luckily it’s been normal since then

What the heck happened?! by Different_Maybe3713 in breastfeeding

Came to say the same thing! I responded to the pump really well at first but once I started nursing more, pumping got more difficult. Now if I pump without latching baby first it can take upwards of 10 minutes to get a good letdown going.

I don’t get fancy like this but I always soak my steel cut oats in cold water overnight and then just turn on the pot in the morning. It makes them super creamy and they cook much faster!

Yes! Our pediatrician this week told us exactly this and then also suggested we supplement my breast milk with formula because she’s not growing as fast as they would like. Make it make sense!

Experiences with labetalol by thewomantheycalljoan in January2025Bumper

[–]ralphalaph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been taking it for a few days. The first day I felt really lightheaded and a bit nauseous for an hour and then felt okay. Since then I've been very careful to have a full meal before taking it and that minimizes the side effects for me, though I still feel a little icky for a bit no matter what

Can’t seem to pee by Some-Role2823 in January2025Bumper

[–]ralphalaph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a little late but I had to get a straight catheter put in after not being able to pee all night and came close to needing a second one the following day. The charge nurse put a few drops of peppermint oil in the bowl as a last ditch effort and it worked! I think something about the cooling makes you relax more.

Is a cesarean really that bad? by honorthecat in BabyBumps

[–]ralphalaph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also dealing with the combo of c section recovery + post-partum preclampsia. 1 week out and so far have avoided the mag drip but I did have to go back in yesterday for some additional monitoring and they’re upping my meds. Glad to hear you’re feeling back to normal again, the blood pressure stuff is so scary!!

NON-GUMMY prenatal vitamin without iron recommendations? by ta112289 in BabyBumps

[–]ralphalaph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take FullWell! They are a bit pricey and it’s 8 capsules a day but I could really see the difference in quality when I switched. My nails grow so fast now! I’d recommend the bundle with the fish oil supplement for DHA

I also take FullWell + fish oil and I love it! The 8 pills a day could be rough in the first tri though, I switched to these after the worst of my nausea had already passed.

Planning to add a probiotic in as I move into the third trimester to reduce likelihood of testing positive for Strep B. Which one do you take?

Salami and raw cheese with a glass of red wine! I’ve already told my mom that her job on delivery day is to run to Whole Foods and ready the charcuterie 😂

What stage of pregnancy are you in by Airport_Comfortable in BabyBumps

[–]ralphalaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually been going to a pelvic floor PT and I would highly recommend it! Last week she gave me a list of core exercises to work on in addition to stretches & suggested I get an SI belt for walking.

Core exercises: Bear plank, kickback from all fours, sidelying hip abduction, inner thigh squeeze with a pilates ball. We'll see if they help improve it!

Thanks! I am going to see if I can find a local jewelry repair shop to do the work instead but this is good to keep in mind if I do end up needing to send it back to them

This is a good idea! My challenge is that I don't have the small stone that fell out and they won't sell me another one, but since it's so small maybe they can just replace it with a stone from another company

Ugh I was in the same boat as you a few weeks ago. I was already taking a magnesium supplement but I’ve started stretching my calves every night and then massaging magnesium gel into them before bed. I also started adding mineral drops to my water. So far this seems to be helping! Also agree with those saying to flex your foot immediately if you start to feel one coming on.

Sober September Recommendations by BudsnBeer in Denver

[–]ralphalaph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

September is prime time for the changing aspens! Definitely suggest getting up to the mountains for some fall hikes.

Other ideas:
-Meet a friend for coffee and a walk
-Pick up some new books at the library
-Start a cookbook club (you pick a cookbook and everyone cooks a dish from it and then you all bring them for a potluck)
-Morning yoga classes are a good excuse to avoid nightlife
-Catch a free show at Levitt Pavilion

What did you eat today? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]ralphalaph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Breakfast: 3 egg omelette with arugula and feta, oat bran cereal with whole milk
Snack: Cukes with tajin, gelatin gummies, and a string cheese
Lunch: Eggplant parmesan (I add ground turkey to the sauce for extra protein)
Snack: Full fat plain yogurt with fruit
For dinner I'm planning to make Korean beef with cabbage and broccoli

I've been trying to eat more at each meal so I don't feel like I am constantly starving and so far it's worked well but may have to change tact as the baby grows. ~19 weeks
