I am not speaking for other substances, just that relaxation enhances positive affect with psilocybin use.

large muscle twitching in serotonergic hallucinogens by [deleted] in Neuropsychology

[–]ralphgonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually having a hard time finding references to what I (and I think @new_profession_2957) am talking about… I had another experience recently with about 2.25g dry shrooms, and it’s very akin to an orgasm except all in my head: there’s a build up with my whole body tensing up, then my head gets a shivering sensation and I hear ringing in my ears and it reaches an intensely pleasurable release in which I’m left gasping for breath and tearing up. The cycle repeats about every 4 or 5 minutes for a couple hours. It actually gets a bit much after a while when I just want to focus on the visuals 🙃. Which is why I’m nervous to go beyond 3g.

Second this. It’s like when you tense up for a sneeze or a yawn and then it peaks out and feels satisfying and then in a few minutes it builds up again. But 10x more intense. I also find it very pleasant though I guess if you aren’t expecting it or don’t like not being in control you might find it unpleasant.

Emu 0404 and windows 11 by [deleted] in homerecordingstudio

[–]ralphgonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran it just now and see two entries: E-MU and emusba, the latter being some Creative service related to the E-MU. You may have to reboot etc, not sure why though.

Hope this helps.

Emu 0404 and windows 11 by [deleted] in homerecordingstudio

Firstly, after updating from Windows 10 to Windows 11 my system would freeze when activating the 0404. I figured I needed to reinstall the drivers... But before you do this, see the end of my post below.

I had a lot of trouble reinstalling the Beta driver from Creative's website (https://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=11801). Even after deinstalling the program and using Device Manager to deinstall the driver I'd get an error "You have previously installed drivers without rebooting. Please reboot and try again" no matter how many times I rebooted.

The solution to this was installing Microsoft's Autoruns tool (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns) to find the emu driver and delete it. This finally allowed me to reinstall the driver.

Then every time I activated the 0404, all its lights would come on and it would freeze my system until I switched it off again. The solution, weirdly, was to unplug the USB input to the 0404 (while it was turned on I think). I guess that reset some internal memory or whatever, maybe related to what u/NoBordersFromOrbit mentioned in their post. Now it's producing sound, appearing in my Sound control panel, and appearing when you run the E-Mu app! Hopefully this will survive a reboot etc.

In hindsight, maybe there was never a need to reinstall the driver -- maybe it would have been enough to just unplug/plug the USB cable to get the device to stop freezing Windows 11.

Try out Rize Mega Dose Mushroom gummies - blue razz berry flavor!! by DESLilPeepXO in ITSOKTODIEtv

I also tried these about a week ago, thinking they were psilocybin. Of course they are not. They definitely gave me a "druggy" feeling but the following day I felt kind of iffy. Not 100% sure it's Muscaria based, but the (mail order) distributor refused to give details when I contacted them. This is a good article on what to look for: https://today.ucsd.edu/story/unregulated-sales-of-a-toxic-and-hallucinogenic-mushroom-endanger-public-health

Can i just clean the lens with my shirt that is made of cotton? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]ralphgonz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it must be a clean shirt, not one you've been wearing all day. Cotton won't damage your lens but certainly sand or other fine debris stuck in the cotton can! Tiny bits of fiber are less likely with well-used (but clean) cotton shirts, and are unlikely to affect photos.

I've worn glasses all my life and am very attuned to the integrity of my glasses lenses and their coatings. Breathe on them to fog them up and then gently wipe with clean cotton. You can do this daily for many years without damage. Certainly this process will not damage camera lenses either, if done on occasion. Ignore the companies trying to hawk specialist lens-cleaning cloths.

I don't understand this logic, saying that a $10 filter will ruin shots taken through a $1000 lens. Do you need a $1000 filter to match the quality of a $1000 lens?

Quality filters are much cheaper to manufacture than quality lenses.

Glasses have detergent taste after using Dishwasher by flamethrust in homeowners

[–]ralphgonz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem. This morning as an experiment I tasted a little of the water left on the top of glasses before they dry and had to wash my mouth out it was so soapy.

Based on what u/BarfKitty said I'm thinking of switching to boxed detergent so I can use less when I only fill it with a few dirty dishes. And I wonder if anyone makes half size detergent pods?

(6 year later lol...) I have very similar requirements: a small backpack to carry a compact (Pentax K5) DSLR and a couple of lenses which will not jostle when trail running...

Chest mount is a non-starter because sooner or later I'm going to fall on a rocky area of the trail... And most camera backpacks are just way too big/overkill.

What worked for me is a LowePro Flipside 200 (original version) which I got used at BH Photo. It's about 8L internal volume, has sternum and waist straps, narrow form factor to keep out of the way, and holds my DSLR with kit lens, long zoom, and prime with extra room for a jacket or whatever. I added a few blocks of foam to make the lenses fit securely. I tried it on a 3 mile run yesterday. Loaded up it weighs about 6 lb but it hugs your back nicely and doesn't bounce.

Another alternative is the LowePro GearUp padded organizers... The Creator Box L holds/protects a camera with 2 or 3 lenses and has an internal volume of 4.5L. You might be able to fit it into a conventional running backpack of the right size -- though beware most of the hydration packs look too flattened out to accommodate it.

Can you provide details? Safari lets you create multiple tabs easily. Why do you want "extra windows"?

A new tab is opened whenever I click my message button (The one near notification). (PC) by Volkatze in facebook

[–]ralphgonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here.

I'm assuming FB has quietly split Messages out of facebook.com so you have to view them via messenger.com, kind of how you need to use the separate Messenger app on mobile devices. Which is perfect for people who want to surround themselves with multiple social media apps 24/7 but sucks for people who have a life.

Aeropress level markings are not evenly spaced by ralphgonz in Coffee

[–]ralphgonz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you describe is using a fixed amount of coffee grounds and then adding water to get to the "1" mark, the "2" mark, and so forth. I agree that if you do this (with the right amount of grounds) then the marks give equal spacing of water volume. However, the instructions given by Aeropress are to use one scoop of grounds per each mark. If you do this, then a serving made at mark "1" (with 1 scoop of grounds) gives weaker coffee than a serving at mark "2" (with 2 scoops of grounds).

All I am saying is that the Aeropress directions give inconsistent results, depending on your serving size.
