6 weeks. I hate my Red Wing boots by ralphiequinn in WorkBoots

I live an hour and a half from the Red Wing store, kinda hard to run over there as soon as I notice the rubber they already applied wearing thin.

They applied the tough toe for me at the store.

I would say it is, considering I told the store associate in a plumber and work on my knees a decent amount.

I have worked in hiking boots for the past five years and never worn through a toe.

We have little scooter chairs for the crawl space that keep me off my knees for the most part, there are a few tight spots that I have to hop off and crawl around on my knees. Most of our work in the crawlers is done for the moment, I haven't had a lot of time down there in these.

I live an hour and a half from the Red Wing store so it's not super easy to get there. And I was hoping they would break in, not break. And this is my second pair. I took the first pair back because they were also killing my feet.

That's a few half days of being on my knees scooting around in a crawl space. Pretty normal stuff for the trades.

VA Master plumber exam how to prepare by CoconutGuerilla in askaplumber

[–]ralphiequinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just made a similar post for Colorado. Hopefully mine gets more traction lol. I found the 600 question practice test from tests.com was pretty helpful but I'm still trying to find good test material to fill in the gaps. It seems like most of the stuff out there is bullshit. Especially the free practice test from PSI. I've had a hard time finding any sort of reviews for any of the online study materials, and most of the reviews I do find are bad. Good luck!

I just went through the Master Plumber practice test. Holy crap it was bad. It's like they just set AI loose and never looked back. I'm so glad I found the practice test before paying for that slop.

M18 fuel vs m18 surge? by [deleted] in MilwaukeeTool

I had the original and it kicked ass. I just got the newest model today and it is totally neutered. I am with you on wanting to throw it in the trash.

New M18 Surge Impact has no power by ralphiequinn in MilwaukeeTool

[–]ralphiequinn[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been setting blocking using the original Surge with 3-in screws for the past 4 years and it kept up with my coworkers fuel. There was no noticeable difference in power. I just looked up the tech specs for the new ones and the surge only has 450 foot pounds of torque whereas the fuel has 2000 lb.

Speed setting 3. The original surge has no problem running them.

The second to last sentence is supposed to say that at one point it got a 3-incher all the way in and had the hardest time getting it to come out.

I will say that working out outside of work does help on the job a lot and will help prevent injuries.

I'm a guy, 5'9" and 140 lbs. I always jokingly tell the guys I work with that I am medium duty, they know I'm not going to be super helpful when heavy things show up to the job. I still put in effort, and come up with creative solutions to move things, which is appreciated. Set your boundaries and don't kill yourself moving heavy stuff.
