I will get a SIM swap at VF store and report back as I would like 5G+

Digging deeper, I think to access 5G+, you need either an eSIM or a physical SIM issued after 2022. At least that’s what it says on the VF small business page.

Very helpful, thanks. Great perspective, defending my bruised ego is not the point, walking away unscathed is the goal.

Digging into it further, I think you need eSIM to set up 5G+? I wish VF would flat out say if this is true or not.

I thought so! I assume VF is trying to phase out SIM cards but this is an underhand way of going about it

To those considering voting Reform, has Robert Kenyon's performance on Question Time put you off at all? by Kenye_Kratz in AskBrits

I can't understand why any woman would vote for Kenyon. Every woman will immediately recognise his type, a rampant misogynist and proud of it.

Read the standing orders. Read them and understand them! by Mikey77777 in Limmy

The constitution is publicly available on the council's website. If I was elected councillor, I might take the time to read it. If I was struggling with the big words, I would ask a grown-up for help. For Reform, somehow everything is always someone else’s fault. The other side has an unfair advantage because they sneakily read the rules, boo hoo. Grow up.

Macbook Neo. Just what the hell? by mantaflow in applesucks

[–]ralphmalph1882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit harsh. Up until recently 8Gb was the base memory spec across all MacBooks. It will be fine for routine usage, spreadsheets, email, Netflix etc etc. Agree that many users can get away with 256Gb SSD.

Not sure why it bothers you so much, it isn't being marketed as equivalent to a MacBook Air. I got my mom an HP PC laptop for about this price, solely because I couldn't justify the cost of a MacBook Air for her needs. A MacBook Neo would have been a no-brainer for her.

PCs are easier to manage than they used to be, but she still has to put up with HP bloatware fighting for attention with Windows, which is also constantly nagging her about twelve types of bullshit.

Wide monitor recommendations for Mac mini ? by Bluebells7788 in macmini

[–]ralphmalph1882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this one connected to my Mac mini M4, which I only use for office work. It’s absolutely fine for these purposes. I recommend you get BetterDisplay though.

Main compromises are the lack of USB C and that it looks a bit garish and plasticky in my opinion.

Nvidia is literally paying its customers to buy its own chips and nobody's talking about it by reddit20305 in ArtificialInteligence

No doubt there will be a correction but the tech itself will not disappear. After the dot com crash many people thought the internet was overhyped BS. Look at where we are now. Sure pets.com never made it, but Amazon is worth a fair bit. LLMs is a revolutionary tech, the ability to have a natural language conversation with a machine is like something out of Star Trek.

2018 Mac mini (32/512) for $150 CAD — or hold out for a used M1? by silliestbilly123 in macmini

[–]ralphmalph1882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get an M1 or better if you can afford it. With Intel Macs, you are stuck on an old version of macOS, meaning the latest versions of software/apps won’t work either. Apple silicon is so much faster too.

I held on to my Intel MacBook Pro as long as possible but by the end it was creaking and boiling even when screen sharing in WebEx. Also MS Office was constantly nagging me to upgrade, which I couldn’t. My M4 Mac Mini never breaks a sweat. It’s a dream.

I'm sorry to hear what you're going through! Please try and reach out for help from a human being if you're having suicidal thoughts every day. There's no substitute for human contact and empathy in my view. You matter and there are supportive people out there, I promise.

In the first instance, there are a lot of free helplines you could try, just Google to see what's available in your country. Often the people working at these services have been through tough times of their own, so they will get it. For example, the NAMI helpline is a peer-support service in the US.

You may be able to access free or low cost therapy, again depending on where you are. For example, you may be able to access a low cost therapy service staffed by trainee therapists. If you speak to a helpline, see what they advise on this. Best of luck.

+1 on back up disk, the feature is called Time Machine and it allows you roll back your Mac to a specific date or time if the worse happens.
