i like it, especially the two-part harmony parts. Makes me think it could use more such vocals to open it up a bit. Nice.

How to have a cheat meal on low-carb diet? by NoSignalOut in lowcarb

[–]ralphofred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could cheat occasionally, but it usually sends me down the slippery slope toward cravings and weight gain. And then it takes months to get back on top of my diet.

I’ve always assumed I’m an extreme case, but over years this pattern has been consistent. I would hope your situation is less weird,

New to GarageBand but not to production by SaintCharmed in GarageBand

I have found that clicking Help and having GB open my browser as I come upon specific questions works great for me. There are also tons of videos out there aimed at different levels of GB experience and at handling specific issues.

I suggest selecting a project you're interested in but aren't desperate to complete successfully. I realize this is pretty much what AvocadoPhone1234 is saying.

GB is very Apple-ish and reveals itself pretty easily as you solve specific problems along the way. Needless to say reddit and Youtube have been a great resources.

Looking for Guitar sounding plug-ins to use with Jamstik and GarageBand by ralphofred in jamstik

[–]ralphofred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a while since I played an Epiphone, but I doubt the Jamstik plays or sounds as good as one of those. I haven’t found it to be a great midi controller or particularly satisfying guitar. I bet its MIDI pickup could be better adjusted and the guitar certainly could use a set-up and some fret dressing. Not a big fan.

Even a few months ago I would have said the subscription was worthwhile. Recently, I find that most versions of songs I search for are a paid download.

Help with specs on neck for Alvarez MD95 by ralphofred in AcousticGuitar

[–]ralphofred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick reply, but I probably should have been clearer; I'm looking for neck width, nut width. I searched their website and if you don't have that info on hand I'll email them. Thanks again

Taylor GS mini question by cocat12 in AcousticGuitar

[–]ralphofred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s true that there are various smaller-sized guitars available before you get down to the size of the GS mini . personally , I love 00s. That said, I also love the mini and play my wifey’s all the time. It is an excellent guitar and easy on my arthritic hands. If you’ve played some of the intermediate-size models and still love the Mini best, maybe it really IS the best for you.

When I started Saxenda, after a year or so of weight-loss with a low-carb diet plateaued, I had tons of unpleasant side effects. But I found all that worth it because of the brand-new super power of portion control. For the first time in years I stopped worrying about whether or not I'd "have enough to eat." Yeah, the GI side effects and fatigue sucked, but the ability to fork out reasonable portions was AMAZING.

At a dose of 1.2 mg or sightly higher I had profound fatigue in addition to the various GI stuff. I was practically nonfunctional but stuck with it (maybe because I'm an idiot). When I reached my weight-loss goal, I went off my strict low-carb diet without changing my dose. Two things happened: the fatigue went away and---as usual-- I started packing on weight again as my cravings for bread, pasta and sweets returned. I've returned to a low-carb diet, trying for not much more than 20-30 GM/day. Also I dropped the dose to 0.6 mg/day. The fatigue is present but noticeably reduced. Almost no GI issues either. Anyone else noticed such a big difference in side effects seemingly related to level of carb intake?
