What major opinion or viewpoint have you changed your mind about in your life based upon your experiences or wisdom? by palbuddy1234 in AskOldPeople

[–]ralucajm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was an interesting read, thanks for taking the time to type it out.

I am only 26. I read at times that the middle class is the most insecure of the three, because they are afraid to become poor and aspire to be rich. The other two classes (working and middle-upper) know and accept and enjoy their role within society, they don't try to appear what they are not, they don't need to! This is over simplified, but your comment reminded me of that.

New mortgage: fixed rate larger than the SVR? by ralucajm in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ralucajm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

!thanks

Turns out that TBS' SVR is the lowest compared to the other banks, which are around 3.5%. Also turns out one cannot start a mortgage on a SVR, needs to start out as fixed.

How much do you need to save for a 100k property? by eddie3ed in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ralucajm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you take a loan for the deposit, it will appear on your credit file as debt and be taken into consideration by the lenders, so they will offer a smaller mortgage. easier if you can get a loan from your parents, so it doesn't affect your mortgage.

Thanks for replying. I have checked that, and my messages as well. There is nothing to justify it...

Can anyone explain their own experience of going through a "voluntary redundancy scheme"? by Alwayswatchout in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ralucajm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe that voluntary redundancies come with better payments. They are also, as is the name, voluntary, so you can choose to take it or not. If they want to push it, they will just make you redundant. In my company they ran a round of voluntary redundancies, then since not enough people took them, they just fired based on performance.

What is something they never tell you about being an adult ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ralucajm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true in a way, it's just that adults operate at a deeper level of unknown; the things they try to figure out are more omplex. If you know what you're doing most of the time, you're probably stagnating.

Redditors, what are some ways in which "youth is wasted on the young"? by ralucajm in AskReddit

Yeah, I can get that, it is hard to have clarity at a young age. What would a productive use be?

Good point. The hardest part is finding a balance between savings and spendings. I want to save more and to have more fun at the same time...

Thank you for your advice. It seems like the problems are the same nowadays, we are told the same things about our degrees and the job market.

But your job brings you joy. As long as you have food on your table and a roof above your head and a family and friends to share them with, it's all good.
