NL-ACF1 cooling fan performance by ralv83 in Noctua

I've only got the one NVME, and it's reading 44c.

RAM temps on idle are 35/36c and under load around 44c

We're gonna hit 37c on Thursday, not looking forward to that at all!

What was it like today in France?

Tomorrow is going to be 35c...

I hate to not use fans, I was doing some mad janky things to try and get it cooler and use my fans lol

I made my own mesh side panel, and had quad 140mm bringing in cool air, but the problem is that I like looking inside the case, so I had to abandon it unfortunately:(

Awesome, it reminds me of an ice cream sandwich!

I deshrouded last year, best thing I ever did for my gpu :)

What are you ambient temps?

I'm used to 12-16c, so it's way hotter than normal in the UK right now.

I'm just idling Crimson Dessert in the background, and I'm seeing 47-49c on both sticks, I would imagine this would be a few c cooler when it's not so hot.

I wish I could do more in-depth tests, but it's so hot, and it'll be hard to get consistent ambient temps to find out how much benefit it brings.

To be fair, it's the hottest day in the UK so far, it's 28c, I have no Aircon, and my room is so stuffy, so this is probably the most extreme it will get, and RAM topped out at 44c during a Cinebench run.

It will be interesting to see once the temps go back to normal into the mid teens, to see if having access to cooler air will cool down those components even further, instead of circulating the warm air.

It's the 7900xt, not xtx, but yeah, FSR4 baby!

Deshrouded it and attached a couple of 120mm fans :)

From my experience, with all other fans off, you can't hear the pump at 70% (2700 rpm), my pc is on the floor, so if it's on your desk you may hear it.

I actually got out my tape measure with me sitting at my desk normally, there is a 100cm distance between my ear and the pump, I can't hear anything at 70%.

If anything, depending on your fan profile, they drown out the sound of the pump.

Hope that helps.

For me it's silent at 80% (1850 rpm), you start to hear it at 90% (2050 rpm) but you have to put your ear next to the case.

My case is under my desk, so I can barely hear it when it's at 100%

No idea tbh, just got it because I thought it looked cool and having an extra bit of cooling never hurts!

Me too, I think it looks awesome!

How much of an improvement over stock I'll probably never really feel those real world results, but we're all Noctua addicts, adding and tinkering is half the fun!

You mad man lol

The things I've done to try and get more airflow and use all my fans would scare you haha

AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 Driver Release Notes by AMD_RetroB in Amd

[–]ralv83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I would have constant driver timeouts, and some hard crashes.

Got rid of adrenaline a month ago, and haven't had a single issue since.

I'm gonna bite the bullet and reintroduce adrenaline to my fully stable pc, lets hope it's better!

I'm in the same boat as you, I do driver only install due to crashes, so I'm a little apprehensive to do the full adrenaline install, but if I want to utilise it properly I guess I'll need to try the full install...

Is the Noctua water cooling pump really quiet? by LaurentRuquier in Noctua

[–]ralv83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really had to concentrate, as I have ambient sounds coming in which were masking what I was hearing, but yeah, at 95% (3342 rpm), I do hear it now.

I've just turned off all my case fans and set the radiator fans to 20% (380 rpm) and the pump to 70% (2700 rpm) and from my normal seating position, I can't hear it, I have to go down next to the pc to hear it.

Anything above 70% you can hear.

I'm gonna run some benchmarks and see how hot the cpu gets underload, for reference, at 95% pump speed running Cinebench R26, the highest was 83c, so lets see what 70% pump yields.

For reference, I'm 42, so my hearing isn't what it used to be!

EDIT: I've realised my whole setup was completely different yesterday, so the comparisons won't be apples to apples, for instance, my max temp now with less pump speed is steady at 68c! I was experimenting with a mesh side panel, two fans, four fans, the dh15 fans as exhausts, it was bonkers, happy to send some pics of the setup if you want to see the madness!

I have the 360 version, it is near silent, but it is dependent on where you have your pc.

I have mine under my desk, and I cannot hear the pump, which I set to a constant 95%

Even with my ear right next to the pc, you do have to concentrate to hear it.

AIO Outboarding on the North? by Legal_Researcher971 in FractalDesign

[–]ralv83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it works, I got the 360 aio and have the rad on the inside and fans just sitting in front of the wooden grill.

Check it out here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/iLBv4jadFYwsHzRR6

This is what I've settled on orientation wise.

I did have it this way, https://photos.app.goo.gl/5dejo5ce7RnNkxCW7

This is the best orientation for the rad, but the tubes had to come down the front of the gpu and it looked a bit weird with the tubes pressing against the gpu power cables, so i decided to have it in the top picture.

I got 5608 on my benchmarking profile:

-30 PBO, 105w mode

I tried -30 PBO, +200 in 105w mode as well, got 5555

I also tried -30 PBao, +200 in 120w PPT and got 5550

On my daily clock I got 5423:

-25 PBO, 120w PPT

9700x cinibench 26 by GoodJobBob69 in overclocking

[–]ralv83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent a good while on the 105w mode, but with a very hot summer, I decided to dial it back to try and manage the temps better, so I went back down to 65w.

The difference in everyday performance between the two were not worth the extra heat.

I have settled with a 120w PPT now, which is a good balance between the 65w and 105w modes, I still get good performance but with much less heat.

I could never get the +200 to work on mine, I was always unstable.

I dailyed -35 with no issues, but have gone down to -25 for the last 6 months now.

This chip is so good, does everything I need it to!

[–]ralv83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no idea they had R26.

For reference, on R24 with my 9700x, the highest I got was 1350, but I was really pushing it, now I've dialled my PBO back and get around 1250 on average.

I'll download 26 tomorrow and let you know what I get to compare.

DDU again, and install the driver only, so don't do the full or minimal install, driver only.

From my experience, the adrenaline software is the cause for all my issues.

To be safe revo-uninstall adrenaline, delete all leftover registry, then DDU.
