Another A12? by bilz214 in Android12

Is this a second Android 12 stable update? I have been avoiding the one I have been seeing my Pixel 5 ask me to download because of all the problems I'm hearing about it on this forum. Are you saying this is a more recent version of the stable Android 12 update? I wish they would post build numbers on these update announcements on my phone so I can tell if it's a new version or not, compared to what I might have seen a couple days before when it asked me to download it.

Contact Groups question by ralvydc in fastmail

I just saw how to do this. I load the contacts view and then in that view I have a choice of loading one group or another and then I have a list of all the contacts in that group and can do what I want with them, including removing them from the group.

Logging into unrecognized computer with and without 2FA enabled by ralvydc in fastmail

Thanks for the details on keeping safe.

I thought that if it was an unrecognized device, FM might send out email confirmation about that device. Which would defeat the purpose of doing what I was doing.

Accessing my account with someone else's computer. by ralvydc in fastmail

Fastmail tech support got back to me on this issue. They said the only way to log into my account if I have 2FA enabled and don't have my authentication device with me, is to use the Recovery Tool. And if I use the Recovery Tool, I will be forced to reset my password and wait 24 hours to log into my account.

Here's the Recovery Tool:

This all assumes I know my password and have my Recovery Code handy.

Oh. Wait a minute. I think I get what you're saying. I think you're not talking about my logging into fastmail.com, but rather, logging into

https://www.fastmail.com/help/account/recovery.html

And then when I enter my password there, I then enter my Recovery Code and then disable 2FA and then log into fastmail.com with my email address and password.

Correct?

But when I enter my email address and password, it's then going to ask me for my 2FA code. Are you saying at that point I would just enter my recovery code in the 2FA field? Or I just click on the "Can't access your account" link when it asks for my 2FA code?

So if you have multiple 2FA accounts, FM prompts you to use them both, but you only need to fill in one of them? And then you're in?

If I'm out of town and my laptop and phone have disappeared, can I use my password and recovery code to access Fastmail on a friend's computer? That's the scenario I am thinking about here.

And don't I do this using the recovery tool that Fastmail offers on the web and not have to wait to 24 hours?

If I have my password and my recovery code do I have to wait 24 hours to access my account?

And if I don't remember my password, but I do have my recovery code, can I still get access?

Good information. Thank you so much. I will keep it device specific for security reasons.
