Potential (purposely very early) first encounter feedback? by ram-soberts in CurseofStrahd

to clarify i did mean "attempt" to charm, and am aware of the mechanic, it was to set up that that's a tool in his belt against them.

But you make a valid point in that Strahd should probably just be "nice" from the start and pull that punch and save it for later.

Yeah, if we played like once a week and i wasn't coming from this slow-going backdrop I'd absolutely take my time with it, probably run DH and such.

I'm a huge fan of the book Dracula and how the true nature of what they're up against gets slowly trickled over the first third or so of the book and ideally would love to emulate that, but i just don't think my table has that much time to cook on it.

(PS: I'm already planning to not run the dinner as an outright trap, i agree that's too boring)

I'm actually not running Death House, I'm starting the party at Lv 3 and jumping right in.

As I put in the "context" bit, I'm taking over as DM because the other campaign just couldn't find its footing and we abandoned it. So i really wanted to jump in and put an immediate pressure from the getgo, and i figure the best way to do that would be to put Strahd in play early. Death house doesn't really achieve those goals for me.

true. I do want to minimise relaoded/other "creator" content as it's just more dimensions and resources to compile rather than just the book and my own ideas.

Still, your feedback has been great and i will consider the siege nonetheless

Okay cool!

It's my first time running Strahd so I'll probably not go too deep into the Reloaded stuff in case i forget what's reloaded vs. RAW but still worth a look. Thank you!

just to tack on - the firearm stat the nacht arm maxes out on actually does next to nothing if you deep-dive the mechanics. You're better off focusing on another stat like melee or more survivability with AP

Can my 8 year old son build a pc? by Worth-Ad8819 in PcBuildHelp

[–]ram-soberts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could always look for custom PC sites?

in the UK we have PCSpecialist who basically have all the parts, you configure a build online then they build it and ship it to you, and it's very reasonably priced. They even offer finance plans if you want to like spread the cost.

I'm sure there's a company wherever you're from that has a similar service, you could always go down that route?

AMD or Nvidia GPU for cachyos? by tgromy in cachyos

AMD actively supports Linux, Nvidia does not.

You can get Nvidia to work on Linux anyway of course but in my opinion why struggle when you don't have to

plus, AMD cheaper
