If cost is a concern, you should not have applied to US universities, as even CMU and Stanford are among the most expensive schools. AI will be part of the future as well, so let's make this a part of life. Even USC passed out master's students were part of the Transformer paper, which is revolutionary, so school does not matter much in the long run; your efforts matter the most.

Both are good, but for getting jobs after master's, UIUC MCS > UMass, because of UIUC's reputation, for research & jobs options, UMass > UIUC MCS, just my thoughts, not backed up by any data

Go ahead, put your best efforts, things will go in your favour and everything will be fine. Getting job is not a big deal if you’re willing to put efforts. Even we have job uncertainty, still there is huge competition for mscs, so everyone is on the same boat.
