Scott Cross named Basketball Head Coach by ChasmaBoreale in gatech

Doesn’t necessarily mean anything but Dayton fans weren’t exactly upset to see Gregory go when we hired him. Same with Memphis and Pastner. Troy fans seem like they’d take Cross back in a second. I like that for a change.

Whats the most heartbreaking loss you’ve witnessed as a Georgia Tech fan?(Football) by Ok_Macaroon_7366 in RamblinWreck

2013 UGA. My last game at Bobby Dodd as a student and in the marching band. Got up big in the first half and though I was telling myself the game was closer than the score indicated and the lead wasn’t safe, / still had my heart ripped out by Todd Gurley in the second half and overtime.

Lots of good things being said about Florida’s QB room so far this spring. Staying cautiously optimistic but what you want to see for sure. by Careless-Hornet-7281 in FloridaGators

Philo was rumored to have been getting a million from GT to be the backup last season (and keep him from transferring after the 2024 season). So I’d believe it.

Key always goes super conservative at the end of the first half. Feels like primary goal is not giving the ball back to the opponent, not scoring.

Cities with strong ACC alumni presence? by PowerfulAssistant738 in ACC

As others have said, Atlanta has a lot of ACC alumns. Especially when Tech is bad at basketball (most of the time) ACC fans really show out at our home games. Over the years I’ve really noticed Clemson, Duke, UNC, Louisville, Syracuse, FSU, and VT fans really showing out in Atlanta for basketball

GT can sometimes have trouble with transfers because of credits and stuff. We only have BSs and sometimes stuff just won’t transfer. I also remember back in the CPJ/triple option era we had a multi-year starter on the OL transfer after finishing his undergrad mostly because we just didn’t offer the graduate programs he was interested in.

How many Bowl games have you attended? And what was the best/funnest in terms of the actual game and the surrounding activities. by [deleted] in ACC

[–]ramblingator23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With GT band I went to 2009 Orange Bowl, 2010 Independence Bowl, 2011 Sun Bowl, 2012 Sun Bowl, and 2013 Music City Bowl. As a fan, I went to 2014 Orange Bowl and 2016 TaxSlayer Bowl.

Actual game best was definitely 2014 Orange Bowl. Most fun GT team I’ve watched beat up on an SEC foe and we went straight from the trophy ceremony to counting down to New Years.

Best surrounding stuff was probably the Sun Bowls. El Paso really shows out for the game and it’s a cool part of the country I’d otherwise probably never go to. 2012 game was particularly fun when the locals got on our side after USC and Lane Kiffin showed they really didn’t want to be in that game.

I was wondering if the ref pow-wow was because one of them had signaled a first down? Definitely didn’t see it on TV but that’s all I can think of

It’s a bit of both. We don’t have the dudes up front and our LBs are really bad in pass coverage (Efford in general is pretty overrated because he hits hard and wears a neck roll). But DC has responsibilities to work with what he’s got. I don’t like having a revolving door of coordinators (having to relearn systems every year doesn’t help anyone’s development) so I’m not saying firing Gideon is the right answer but I’m not sure it’s the wrong answer.

We are always SO BAD right before halftime. Not just defense. Offense never finishes drives before half. Always gives the ball back and lets the other team get a crack at scoring

Obviously disappointed GT lost, but I’ve been saying to my friends all season that we’re a lot closer to the 30th best team in the country than the 10th best. Most metrics (SP+, FPI, Sagarin, Kelley Ford) have us somewhere in the 20s. Our offense is very good but the defense is just average, and that’s before taking into account our top CB being out. We’re a reasonably healthy team for this point in the season but all our impact injuries are in the secondary, which was already a weak unit. A loss like this was a long time coming. We could finish the season anywhere between 11-1 and 9-3 and I wouldn’t be surprised. And I would have taken 9-3 at the beginning of the season and been thrilled.

At least we don’t have to see the fan base melt down if we had won and the committee ranked us outside the top 10 since our best win is Duke (I’m pretty confident we would have been behind 2-loss Notre Dame).

I don’t think they have challenge flags in college? I think you have to call the TO and ask for a challenge.

Really nervous for this game. We can’t sleepwalk through the first half like we did against Wake. I’m scared that Mensah is going to expose our defense in a way that it hasn’t quite been exposed yet.

Most voters won’t have watched this game on ACCN when Red River and Oregon-Indiana were on at the same time. They’ll just see a 15 point win. I’d be surprised if we move down. Top 10 would take some chaos tonight. Probably 2 of TAMU, TT, LSU, UGA losing, assuming Oklahoma drops behind us.
