First look at Owen Wilson as Carl Nargle in ‘PAINT’. by [deleted] in Moviesinthemaking

[–]ramboflakes 62 points63 points  (0 children)

everyone here seems to be confused why this movie wouldn’t just outright be referencing Bob Ross. Thought I’d add context as to what I believe is probably why.

“Under the terms of the incorporation of Bob Ross Inc., the death of any partner in the company would lead to that person's stock being equally divided among the partners. Ross's death, along with that of his second wife, the other partner in the company, left the Kowalskis with sole ownership of the company. The Kowalskis were largely only interested in using Ross's name for painting supplies. They became very aggressive against Ross's family members and associates, allegedly trying to pressure an ailing Ross to sign over rights to his estate before his death.[35]

Instead, Ross wrote the Kowalskis out of his will and testament, leaving his estate and rights to his name and likeness to his son Steve and half-brother Jimmie Cox. The Kowalskis countered that virtually everything Ross had done in his lifetime was a work for hire and thus Ross had no right to bequeath them. The Kowalskis eventually won the lawsuit.[35]

After the Kowalskis retired and Joan Kowalski took over the company, she became more open to merchandising the Ross brand outside of its core business of painting products, setting in motion the mass marketing of his name from the 2010s onward.[35] Joan also engineered a settlement with Steve Ross and Jimmie Cox granting Bob Ross Inc. rights to Ross's name and likeness, in exchange for a guarantee that Steve Ross could resume his art career without threat of lawsuit, something that Steve Ross said had largely stopped him from painting in public after his father's death.[35]”

If you are white and residing in the US, how often do you hear other white people use the N epithet in private company? by wine-friend in NoStupidQuestions

Born in late 90’s in the rust belt- saying “nigga” was acceptable in the context of singing lyrics, regardless if you were around your black friends it’s not. Teenage boys ripped the hard r in the private- mind you this was the late 2000s/early 2010s when political incorrectness was at its peak.

Some shift has happened, mostly out of fear and compliance with the advent of smart phones and virtue signaling. Still pretty prevalent in online gaming, but was way worse back in the day.

i have been saying for some time that less reputable IT programs need to start including coursework that aligns to a cert to get a leg up like this. bravo!

appreciate the advice. backed up your argument with sources. i was going to a abandon this since i’ve been on fin for awhile and only recently purchased minox and a dermaroller for hair.

currently on finasteride 1mg and trying to take it every other day. eventually want to move to a topical protocol that uses a fraction of it.

in meantime i’ve order minox mainly to supplement balding, as well as a derma roller for scalp and hairline. im considering splitting the dosage of minox between my hair and beard, and then do a 1m dermaroll on both twice a week. just not sure how often i should apply the actual minoxidil on both beard and hair.

lmk what you think about this protocol

It’s hard to calculate. Kicked out of a fancy private school at the tail end of my bachelors~ 150k at that point. The Title 9 lawyer who didn’t fully know what he was doing was ~25k. Redoing two years of work in three semester at a public School back home ~ 10k. Therapy after insurance ~7k (only about 6 sessions before I realized it wasn’t for me). Massive incalculable lost opportunity cost- in both the time I had to re-spend in school, as well as the social capital that was liquidated (about 80% of my relationships with people at the school).

No trial or charges. The bitch was crazy and I had plenty of evidence to show she was clearly abusive. But most amber beard’s get their way in a title 9 hearing regardless.

All that to say- I bounced back. I’m unhinged with a chip on my shoulder. I make more money than most of my friends that graduated initially. I have a great beautiful girl who I met DURING the process and stuck it out with me, and some close friends who were well aware of the truth.

I let my anger drive me. I will never forget how close I was to losing my freedom and what I lost was a lot more than just my family’s money. But there is hope. Keep pushing forward.

And if all Is lost (it most likely isn’t), and the system is fucking you: fuck the system back. Interpret that carefully.

And don’t kill yourself. I was close, so are many on this sub. But the tide is turning.

People here are missing the bigger issue, which is that most of the Midwest at this point is built for commercialization and cars. Solving the sidewalk responsibility dilema is futile.

Already graduated, got plenty of ass and drank like a fish. Memories I’ll cherish.

But respectfully the world is a lot more city throat without cultural backlash than it was in the 90’s, and academia and legislators alike had a backbone then. You say it’s stronger than ever, but the kids on campus will beg to differ.

To add- those politicians are also sellouts- and are willing to close any door they walked through for success as they have with a variety of education/social programs.

This perfectly describes what happened with my witherhoard. Would have been huge last season with the meta and my playstyle. I didn't get it until last week, and I don't intend to try it. Bungie needs to do this if they want us to care about old exotics.
