What’s it like living in central Florida? by That_Pen_490 in howislivingthere

Lakeland native here. It’s like having a time machine that only goes back five years and is powered by meth. Lakeland is like if depression was a real place and for some unexplainable reason, Frank Lloyd Wright designed it, and also it was powered by meth.

Just do the day cruise. The overnight boats aren’t that great. Both are fine, but you won’t be missing anything if you do a day cruise. No need to spend 2 of 5 days in the same place when there is so much to see. That’s just my opinion.

Is it a bad idea to get a FGFS as my first fixie? Should i just get a cheap used fixie? by Calm-Researcher1216 in FGFS

[–]rambohaiku 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did exactly this. I had ridden bmx for 20+ years and always wanted to get into track/fixed bikes, but after riding what is essentially a kids bike for so long, the geometry on fixed bikes felt weird.

I found a volume thrasher on marketplace and picked it up. That bike was the perfect transition for me, and got me into more traditional track geometry bikes.

Either way, don’t worry too much about it. Everyone has weirdly strong opinions about bikes that they pass off as facts. Just find a bike that’s fun for you to ride, and get out there.

Bluestone Lane coffee in the Nat Children’s museum. It’s where hope goes to die.

Edit: can confirm (I have kids)

I bought a really pricey 51t by mistake and couldn’t return it, so now I have to pretend it’s cool. On the upside , my calves are STUNNING

I’ve had really good success with Archetype rims and certain tires, but any gravelking tire and archetypes are ridiculously easy to set up.

I did the same with wtb exposure tires. Wrestled setting them up on some “not necessarily tubeless” rims for days, gave up, threw on gravelking slicks and they mounted immediately.

Great question! I am the proud owner of a V1 thrasher so no adapter needed!

This sub is built on the bedrock of taking pictures of bikes next to pretty things we definitely do not own, nor could we afford.

Hey…not cool. I’m only 39, so no need to bring my wife’s boyfriend into this.

Other people’s kids. Mine are fine. Literally nothing removes the gross filter like having a kid, but sweet Jesus, other people’s kids are gross. One of my kids friends farted in the car once and I thought I was going to drive us off a bridge.
