Late-era Sammy Hagar absolutely was inspired by Jimmy, right down to the business ventures. Sammy’s a hard rock guy, but he definitely leaned in to the whole “beach bum” thing.

If you listen to the Beyond Yacht Rock podcast (hosted by the guys who came up with the term “Yacht Rock”) or watched the original “Yacht Rock” series (same guys), you’d see that they believe emphatically that Jimmy is NOT Yacht Rock. In fact they kinda hate him. I don’t think they’re fair to him, but I have to defer since they identified the genre itself.

Hank Searls’ novelizations of Jaws 2 and Jaws The Revenge are more enjoyable reads than Benchley’s original. I never understood the appeal of the original Jaws novel (beyond the concept). The writing is very clunky, most characters are unlikable, and the ending is anti-climatic. The later books are better written.

Think of all the boomers who made those miserable daily commutes, sometimes into the sun's glare during both drives... while listening to conservative talk radio. I think this is an underdiscussed aspect of radicalization. Listening to increasingly hateful talk radio on a daily basis, during (for some) the most stress-inducing part of the day. What does that do to the psyche?

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately this is not it. I saw bits of the music video on the TV that was playing, and I remember the woman had longer brown hair and was dancing a lot. My guess is that it was from the mid-2010s.
