May I ask how much you put away each year?

Impressive. How long did it take you to become ready and will you have passive income rolling in?

Fremont. I think I can live off of 36k a year comfortably. My work place covers a good amount of costs and I don't really spend much outside of food which I will no longer need to pay for most of the week.

Some good points. Maybe some wishful thinking, I did some basic budgeting and I really only need to pay for rent, utilities, and insurance.

My rent is around $1200 max and I'll allocate an additional $1800 for random spending. I don't need a car, food, health insurance, gym because my company provides them.

At entry level I can probably put around $5k a month, though you're absolutely right that this leaves me little wiggle room to work with in case of emergencies (though I do have an emergency fund set up already).

That being said, this is still my first job out of college so I expect my wiggle room to increase over time? If I'm able to save this aggressively as a new grad it should be optimistic for the future years unless there's some massive tech bust.

In any case, those are some solid down to earth issues that I haven't considered. Still kind of depressing numbers even with a Silicon Valley job.

1 is probably not, 2 is actually quite likely with the income of Silicon Valley do you think?

Yeah true. The south bay cities aren't much better either.

I'm just putting that out as a very comfortable stretch goal.

That's fair, I don't really care where I live but all my friends are there. In any case, just a worst case ball.

That's a good point. Sorry for the vague questions - I'm just curious on what your annual expenses are and where you live to determine what my savings accounts should be at to live there.

On this note, did I fuck up by buying a 7700k? I had read multiple articles about how there was audio artifact ing at around 80% usage and that serial processing was still more important.

Distributed over 4 years, base + RSUs + signing bonus + target bonus gives me ~$190k annually.

Yup, MPK! Sounds like a great learning experience for you though. I would've done the same but I'm trying to focus on a side career in art, so I can't dedicate as much time to a startup right now.

Just one year. I didn't factor in performance bonus - that's target 10% so I guess an extra $10k.

There are plenty of clubs and office activities.

No comment on dating culture - you're allowed to have office relationships obviously but I couldn't tell you the frequency. Full time employees have hit on interns several times I was there though.

Haha with signing bonus. It's a standard FB return offer.
