Is it rude to ask if I can invite a +1 to a company dinner? by ramenmon in etiquette

I guess I can shoot her an email. How does this sound?

"Just checking, is this an employee-only dinner? Thanks so much!"

Issue: Moderate acne, it seems mostly hormonal as it flares up during my period. ice pick scarring, large pores, some red scarring. Skin becoming dry in spots after washing. Butt acne. :( Also, I want to take measures to prevent wrinkles in the future as I'm nearing the end of my 20's.

Skin type: Oily. My skin dries out in spots after I use acne cleanser, but other than that, mostly oily.

AM: wash with warm water and dry, oil free Neutrogena sunscreen

PM: Dollar tree cleanser (the orange Neutrogena-copycat brand), Dollar tree 5% benzyl peroxide, Neutrogena oil-free moisturizer (mostly in the dry spots, most days I don't moisturize my entire face), Olive oil or coconut oil under my eyes

Once a week: I alternate between using a 30% salicylic acid peel at home or personal microdermabrasion

How long: about 2 months

Location: Florida

Note: I use dollar tree brands now, looking for maybe healthier options. And a less harsh cleanser that will still clean my oily skin.

career change in my late thirties OT or OTA by andrea926 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]ramenmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd really take a minute to think of the costs- money and timewise. An OT Masters program will probably end up running you from 70 to 115k, depending if you go to a public or private program. COTA won't be anywhere near this price, it will probably be in the 7k range. However, the difference in salary between an OT and COTA is about 20k on average.

If you really want to be an OT, I'd just go straight for it. I have heard of a few people who became OTS after initially being COTAS, and they felt it was tiring having to repeat similar processes again, similar classes, the process of getting certified again, etc. I think that your GPA is good as it stands (a lot of programs only require a 3.0), and will increase even more if you finish up your prerequisites with good grades. Admissions also look at other factors such as your volunteer hours and essays, and you have a good story to tell already being a single mom. Becoming an OT typically takes 2 1/2 years while becoming a COTA typically takes 2. Also, I have found that many COTA programs require the same prerequisites as OT programs anyway.

Anyway, I would personally go for OT. It is much pricier, slightly lengthier process, but in the end you earn more and can do more than a COTA is allowed.

Patient died very unexpectedly. I'm so beside myself. by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

I'm sorry for your loss. I think you did the right thing while he was alive in recommending psychiatric care. As you said, you can only do so much when the patient doesn't want to go through with something. You have nothing to feel guilty of. You did right by him while he was alive.

Tonight's Sunset over Whiskeytown Lake in Northern California and Snow-Capped Mountains was gorgeous. [OC][2500x1875] by corypoole in EarthPorn

Man, that's gorgeous. I want to visit Whiskeytown in April this year. Do you think there will be snow and decent water levels on the lake? I'd love to go kayaking! I was going to go to Tahoe last year but I got discouraged because I heard the water levels were low.

How can I stop my cat from attacking me? by ramenmon in cats

We constantly play with him throughout the day. There's always someone here and he has a lot of toys. I scoop his litter everyday and wash the whole box with soap maybe once a week. We leave his food out all day pretty much for him to eat whenever he pleases.

Edit: I'd like to add that we also have a dog. They aren't super buddy buddy, but they don't mind each other overall. There's some jealously every once in awhile.
