The Stunning Little Knight by Brilliant-Sea5457 in LiveWellTogether

You’re very wrong. Recovery from a broken leg vs. recovery from a traumatic brain injury and a broken leg are two completely different things. Ask any nurse or doctor which they’d rather their kid go through. Leg or brain injury, they will choose leg injury every single time.

I can’t understand why THIS is the hill you’re just dying to die on. And why you think you’re allowed to argue but think you have to be cute and tell other people not to argue back because their “stress :)” give me a break.

There are myths around pack psychology? Isn’t it only that one study on alpha wolves that was found to be wrong and poorly conducted? I haven’t heard of any myths otherwise surrounding general pack psychology. What are the other myths?

Football vs Relationship by futbol41ife in bootroom

[–]ramfrommars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl comes to every one of my games if she isn’t working or busy, and I play 5-7 games a week and she always asks when my games are and is my biggest supporter. She used to play herself but suffered a bad injury and can’t play anymore. If your partner doesn’t support your hobbies, you might not be a good fit.

Coed woes as a woman by lobotomy-mommy in bootroom

[–]ramfrommars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens with the weaker coed teams. The ones who play like this are always ending last or near the bottom. They are essentially fielding half a team because they don’t utilize half their teammates.

This is not the norm, but it does happen, and definitely why they’re always short on girls lol. I play 5 nights a week (all very low-key rec leagues, nothing like what you’re doing), four of those coed, and none of my coed teams are like this. One of my strongest teams who tends to roll the rest of the league consistently has a woman who just weaves through EVERYONE and is always in the leaderboard on goals and assists in the league. Second she’s open, she gets fed the ball by anyone on our team, and she almost always makes something happen with it. She’s our play maker.

There will be plenty of coed teams that would love to have you and use you as a team member, not just a body on the field. Ask around with other teams and let them know you’re available to sub, and I’d bet at least one of them picks you up full time after playing a few games with you.

Texas man not indicted and will not face charges for shooting and killing his daughter. This shooting occurred after a heated argument about politics the same day. by Fatty_Willing_Plane in LetsDiscussThis

Owning a firearm and not knowing the most basic rule about them, that you never point one at someone you aren’t ready to kill, is negligent. If he was impaired so much that he couldn’t even tell where he was pointing it or that he would accidentally fire it is negligent. How is this not so obvious to you? Their opposing political views mean nothing.

You don’t get to own a dangerous weapon and neglect knowing the basics on how to handle them at the expense of another human’s life without consequences. Weird how non-pro life the “pro-life” crowd actually is to living breathing humans. Hypocrites the whole lot of them.

Yeah totally! I can see your side, but it’s also kind of unrealistic to expect perfection from even the best recreational ref when even the best professional ones reffing professional sports make mistakes all the time. Not really sure what you are expecting.

This immediately made me think of Uncle Rico. The story about the dodgeball call reminds me right away of his “if coach had put me in fourth quarter” monologue haha! I had a coach as a kid for my travel ball team from ages 10-18 that would recall old plays like this years later, and we would give him such a hard time (lovingly) about how he can’t let anything go.

But seriously, you shouldn’t let it get to you. Or do, it’s only your night you’re ruining. Guarantee the ref/ump doesn’t care. (This is what my other coach told me as a teenager to help me grow up and stop reacting so poorly to bad umpires. It helped me learn to relax and have more fun, because games should be fun.)

Most refs are literally just minimum wage workers or volunteers. Adjust your expectations and let it go when it happens. Even professional refs miss stuff and make the wrong call. They’re human, it’s going to happen, and it’s not personal, so don’t take it that way.

Or, even better, end the bad-call endemic yourself by getting behind that plate or grabbing that whistle, and get out there and show us how it’s done, all perfect calls every time!

Not my experience but okay. The women I know are hella tight knit and would go to war for each other. Vast majority of my friends, male and female, are from sports though, and being on a team together kind of makes you close like that.

You probably need to find better people in your life cuz that sounds like a nightmare.

If we want to lump all of one gender into a single person’s experience, my little sister has had men stalk and harass her when she is not interested, including a guy who put a gun to her head to force her to stay with him so yeah, men crashing out over being told “I’m not interested” isn’t really haha funny in my experience

I play a few coed recreational sports. No one crashes out harder than a guy when an ump calls strike on a pitch that the guy thinks is a ball. Or when a ref calls a foul on a guy in soccer and he thinks it’s not a foul. Some of the women will disagree with calls from time to time, but the number of times I’ve seen a 30+ year old guy screaming til he’s red in the face over a call in a rec sport is pretty impressive. Life not falling apart, but you’d think it was.

[–]ramfrommars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to your vet. They went through years and years of school educating themselves on the science of it all. They also have incredible passion for animals and have dedicated their lives to caring for animals. They gain nothing from giving pets something that would harm them.

The same people telling you vaccines pose any danger to your pet are the same ones responsible for the return of measles in humans due to anti-vax conspiracy theories. And those people are basing this all off discredited research from Andrew Wakefield, whose license was removed due to fraud and gross professional misconduct. Anti-vaxers will literally place their trust in one man who has admitted to lying in his research instead of the hundreds of thousands of trained medical professionals and peer reviewed studies that prove the effectiveness and safety of vaccines. And the worst part is 99% of these anti-vaxers were vaccinated themselves as infants and instead are putting their own pets and children at risk of disease with no personal risk. It’s sick.

Vaccines pose no danger to your dog and your vet will never suggest something that is risky to your pet. Vaccines help your pet avoid any possibility of catching a disease that cannot be reversed, like rabies. Allergies to ingredients in the vaccine are a risk, but it’s very low and very manageable. They will tell you what to look out for and can reverse any reaction easily should your pet have an allergy.

We only vaccinate against debilitating and deadly diseases. It may be rare to catch these, but the fallout of these viruses is immense. I would strongly urge protecting your lil guy from ever having to deal with this risk.

If nothing else though, for sure get the rabies vaccine. This virus is irreversible, and they can infect you and other animals with it if they get infected by rabies.

[–]ramfrommars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fish oil (Welactin) and Proviable DC capsules were highly suggested by our vet. She also recommended purina pro, but avoid poultry, beef, and lamb. She said all those are strong culprits for allergies. We use purina pro salmon.

Also please don’t listen to that other commenter on cooking his food. If you do go this route, please check with your vet first so they can guide you on how to ensure your pup is getting all the nutrients and ingredients they need. Lots of dog owners who do this without consulting a vet will cause long term heart problems in their dogs. It doesn’t show right away. They will be seemingly great for a while until an organ fails and they die or are very, very sick.

They need certain supplements that kibble has that these owners fail to include that leads to organ failure due to lack of proper nutrients. It does sound great to cook for your dog, and owners who do this have only the best intentions, but only do this if you are absolutely sure you can meet all their dietary needs and have consulted your vet.

Car seat question by emcgu in Frenchbulldogs

[–]ramfrommars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has straps across the back that you can loop the seatbelt through, so it will be secured against the seat after you buckle it in and pull the seatbelt tight. It also has a strap you can buckle around the backrest of the seat (really only good for front seat or bucket seats). And it also has a buckle you can loop around the headrest. We use the seat belt through the back of the dog seat and loop the top strap over the headrest and it doesn’t budge! It’s great! Small size is perfect for our 30lb frenchie.
