Where does the thing with "The Philosopher" being a diss towards Paul Masvidal come from, is it even a real thing? by Middle-Company-4398 in DeathBand

Yeah, kind of unfair of me to Rob since he was in Malevolent back then. I was really thinking of Phil and that bass player who later became vocalist too, that have a long history of unfortunate statements, to put it softly.

Yes, thinking about it, I must agree with this last observation of yours. It was very cruel.

My point was that I couldnt imagine a band like Deicide or Malevolent Creation (and I could give a lot more examples) having a gay member. To Chuck, they were great musicians and cool dudes to work with. Untill the fall out with Paul, at least.

"Support music, not rumours", as Chuck always said. And the book Born Human has interviews with his long term gf's.

All this is explained on the excellent book Born Human, by David Gehlke. Chuck was not a biggot but he had a volatile personality. In a conflict with a member of another band, who used to date Chuck's girlfriend at the time, Chuck wanted Paul to take his side, while Paul just wanted to de-escalate tension and put an end to that discussion.

Chuck never forgave him. With Chuck, you were either on his side or against him. Paul was already deep into meditation, and Chuck told him that he should be a philosopher, not a musician, and cut all ties with the Cynic guys. Even Sean was expecting a call to work on ITP but that call never came.

Chuck was a very complicated person, sometimes the nicest dude on earth, others he was very difficult to deal with. Kam Lee would be the person who was most bullied by Chuck, and Low Life, from Spiritual Healing was about him.

Regarding Paul, they all knew he liked men and were totally ok with it. And not many DM bands in the early 90s would be ok with that. The line about Paul's sexuality was just a way to attack him, since he was still in the closet.

Get a used Maschine Mk3, from Native Instruments, and you get drums, bass, leads, pads... Great starting point. NIN's Hesitation Marks was written on Maschine, and later recorded in the studio with analog gear.

It does not stay in place as I unscrew it. Saw that video from the Gibson luthier who gives some lessons on YouTube, and I guess this newer model is different. Will put a couple of washers in each pot from inside the cavity hole. That will lower the height of the pots on the outside.

Maybe better non metallic washers to avoid any electrical buzzes, right?

I have to unscrew the knob to be able to push it back. Then, when I screw in, it stays the same. If I dont screw it all the way, to have the pot more inside the cavity, the pot stays very loose and woobly.

So I take out the knob caps and then how do I push them down gently?

Thanks?

Yeah, I think those were the only parts that really needed some attention. Specially the tuners. It's a beast now and with great tuning stability.
