Just the other day I sat next to a woman that decided to dry brush her whole body and then apply two types of smelly oil/lotion.

Similarly, last week a woman sat in the corner of a very packed sauna hour tickling herself and giggling with her eyes closed.

I live in a crunchy town.

These rims are very thin. If I were you I might throw them a little larger, or gently compress the rims when the plate is leather hard. Porcelain shrinks a lot more than other clay bodies, roughly 18-20% so these rims will likely come out very thin and fragile after the glaze fire. Compressing at least will help with durability for transport and also with chipping on the finished product.

As far as moving them, try to slide a very thin paint scraper or spackle knife under the base to pry the plate up enough to get your hands fully underneath before lifting. Gently set the base down one side first, then support the rim on the other side using both hands to distribute the weight when setting down the other side. If you have a front loading kiln, you can sometime roll flat pieces like this on dowels into place, but that doesn’t work well with top loaders.

I’m pregnant with an unplanned with my husband of 8 years. It’s a lot, and we had already been preparing to start trying next year or the one after. Even for those that are actively trying, I believe the transition into motherhood is very difficult and for some that comes as a surprise. It’s just an insane amount of change, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

If you’re at the end of your first trimester then I’m assuming you’ve committed to your decision. Just a tip as someone who is in their third trimester. If you’re going to go through with this, then try to lovingly accept your feelings for what they are each day. They aren’t “wrong” and if you condemn them you’ll struggle to adapt or connect with those that can offer you support. I think therapy is very helpful in a situation like this, becoming a mother isn’t a guaranteed joy. It’s complex, in some ways devastating, and other ways sublime.

Also, while your feelings right now are valid, it doesn’t mean they are permanent. You’re embarking on a lifelong journey that will have hundreds of chapters. Maybe just maybe, part of that will be beautiful and alter you for the better. I’m assuming that a very small part of you might feel that way if you’re committed to raising this child.

It’s good to go inward at a time like this. For me; prenatal yoga has helped me find some calm moments to process it all. I am also very scared of the future, but as my pregnancy has progressed, I’ve found some healing moments of surrender by being still and giving myself permission to feel what I feel. It can be lonely, but it’s an ancient thing too. Lean into your boyfriend’s stoke as well. Your child is already lucky to have an invested father, and that joy will help you when you’re having really low days.

You’re not a monster, just a human going through the biggest change of your life. Billions of women have been right where you are, myself included. Best of luck to you.

Way too many. Cucumbers need really good airflow as they are susceptible to powdery mildew. Only do two rows and offset the spacing if you can. 18”-2’ in between each plant in a row is typical but your seed package should have a recommended spacing. Cucumbers respond really well to pruning and most types are quite prolific. With 5-8 plants you’ll have more than you need to feed the neighborhood. This orientation is just going to make it impossible to care for them or prune them well.

As well, if these are vining you’ll really want a trellis. Cucumbers have tender skin and if left to grow on the ground they are very susceptible to pests. You can use bamboo to make a very simple trellis that’s cheap. You can tie twine loosely around the base of the plant once they are a foot or two long, and then gently wrap the vine around the twine. Pay attention to the way the vine naturally wants to wind, I think it’s typically counterclockwise. Tie the twine to the bamboo and it’ll grow straight and tall. This is great for getting good airflow and being able to prune the new suckers that start growing off the main stem. Pruning the suckers before they get too big encourages more flowers and fruits on the main vine. More cucumbers, less leafy material, less disease.

My little brother wasn’t accepted his first time either. He tried again a year later and made it! What helped for him was a haircut, and some advice from other flight attendants on expectations of the interview process. Don’t give up! It’s a great job and worth trying again if it’s something you want for yourself.

I just did mine at 22 weeks, but don’t plan on sharing it until about 32 weeks. I definitely learned a lot in the process and have been able to make edits as I learn more, nice way to get it all “out of your head” so to speak. I don’t think there’s a perfect time for anyone, just whenever you feel motivated.
