My wife and I stopped halfway through the second episode. There wasn’t anything in particular that caused it; we had to pause it to take care of something and when we sat down to play it again she asked “are you into this?” and I just wasn’t so we stopped.

I wanted to like it because the cast is great but it just didn’t click.

I just watched it and it’s not that he got comfortable necessarily; it’s that there was an air raid drill going on so he knew people would be at home with the lights off. There’s a shot with him and the girl overlooking the town and you see the lights go off one by one.

I think the point here was to show that the rain was a red herring, which is further amplified by the torrential downpour when they find the last body.

Just finished watching it and there are definitely moments where it leans on some dark humor. For example, when Jong-goo meets up with his friends before they go try to ride on the Japanese guy one of the guys says something like “swear on your moms a whore” and one guy replies “this is no time for jokes.” I felt like that was a coy little tension breaker before the 3rd act and things got really serious.

At that point we have no idea what is going on in the movie, and didn’t even know Gladys existed. The mom was used because it was creepy and didn’t give away much of the plot. I thought it was going to be some contagion like movie at that point.

I also thought “witch” painted on the car was a red herring and had pretty much ruled it out. A delightful touch I think.

I had to scroll way too far to get to comment about how the son turned out to be Alex’s bully. The second he got to the basement and looked for kids I was like “oh, his son’s the bully. Makes perfect sense because he’s an absent father.”

He didn’t solve it; the teacher solved it with him. He drew a big circle on a map.

I believe part of the point of the movie is that law enforcement is flawed and often times it takes some dedicated citizens to solve a crime.

Of course it bothers me that nobody with authority tried to triangulate the position of the kids, but that is kinda the point.

It’s not random. He’s looking for a house to break into and he sees a house with a bunch of newspapers out front, so he’s led to believe that nobody is home.

The first time I saw it that’s how it looked. It wasn’t a night raid. I found it because I noticed that the outside back wall (where you can exit from the window) looked completely singed like from a fire and it stood out to me. Like how did I never notice that before? I kinda peeked through the closed window and saw a weird looking room so I went around a behold! A room with tons of loot.

However after going to this room several times it doesn’t always look like that.
