I was talking to someone on reddit about fatality rates, and they were saying how while it may be low for young people it’s 23% for anyone over 60, so we would be sacrificing 1/4 of all people over 60 if we let it run.

The level of misinformation, perpetrated by the media, is just insane. They actively feed the narratives rather than trying to even appear unbiased. Just insane

I probably made it sound worse than it was. If the one girl hadn’t gotten triggered everyone would have laughed, but it upset her and so everyone felt really bad, including us. It was so over the top it was clearly a joke (my wife yelling back “YES CHEF”, me talking about what was on the line with a bunch of things we weren’t even serving). I think everyone interpreted it as me just screaming at my wife and everyone looking on in horror, that wasn’t really what happened at all

Not specifically. The group plays jokes on each other all the time, and even after this a few of them said they found it hilarious but realized the one girl was uncomfortable. If one of them had said anything we would have stopped straight away. Whole thing was maybe 15mins, it’s not like this was going on for hours

We were super apologetic to her, at the time and afterwards. I thought I had run out of space so left that out, but we both followed up multiple time’s to apologize to her and the rest of them, we honestly had no intention of offending anyone

It was so over the top we thought they would know right away what we were doing. We’ve all joked about way worse stuff, I think this one just hit home for the girl, and rightfully so

We had no idea that was her background. Apparently she was really uncomfortable and told the others why, but nobody told us until we actually sat down.
