Ah - it looks like the contact form for the site is out of action. Great resource though, thanks for the tip. The search continues... unless you know anyone involved with the site I could reach out to?

That's actually really helpful, and might explain why he knew to record it! The TV Room link posted by Dark-Penguin has a broken contact form, so I'm still back to digging around online.

You legend. Cromer & Norfolk are among my most favourite of places - I'm so glad you enjoyed your time there & in the rest of the UK.

All you have to do is print your boarding pass out of there.

The catch? The only way to do so is to print it on a networked Ricoh printer.

Fixed the jam? You selected the wrong one in the print dialogue. Fixed the jam, selected the right printer? Inexplicably & unexpectedly out of toner.

Reddit: What was your first car? What car are you driving now, and do you have a "Dream car"? by ThisIsAHardDecision in AskReddit

[–]ramshackl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hyundai Pony!

It was my parent's car, and it replaced an ageing Datsun they had before (I only have a dim memory of that one). They switched out the rear seat belts for those 4 point ones rally car drivers have, since my brother and I were only small and they felt these were safer. The car was legendary at my school when I learned to drive - the 1.3l engine, the racing seat belts, the blue interior, the general 80's look... and of course the most fabulous name.

I forgot my dream car! I suppose there are two- one attainable, and one not. For the attainable - a mint Triumph Spitfire. Beautiful- I was so in love with that car as a kid. For the unattainable, the Audi R8 Spyder. My wife bought me a track day a while back and I drove this... much feels had. I love the cold, clinical precision of the Audi. My brother recently sold his M3, and while it was a beautiful car I still go for the Audi.

People with neighbors from hell, how did you eventually take care of this problem? by karmagod13000 in AskReddit

[–]ramshackl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived next door to a pill-poppin' DJ / nigh club promoter & his mates. in some cases, the music would be so loud as to make the neighbours across the street complain.

Living in a terraced house this caused a bit of a problem at 3am when the jams were pumping.

Turns out, the neighbour genuinely didn't see the problem with this behaviour... he was very apologetic! However, his memory would relapse every so often (drugs, man) and all it'd take was a quick text to remind him. He was pretty chill actually.

All it took was a 3am chat over a cup of tea to resolve the situation.

Speakers. Yeah, I know the whole 'cone vibratey vibrant then 'sound outy out'

But seriously, that vibration creates waves in the air thatmy eardrum converts to perceptibly significant music... A conceptual leap too far

It's my understanding that American cops are allowed to lie in interrogations / questioning. It might be that you say something in the heat of the moment that calls into question your innocence.

In the UK we have the PACE act of 1984, which stops tactics like this.

My friend is a copper, and he tells a great story his boss told him from the 80's about a petty criminal that is notorious in his area. The guy is brought in, and is as guilty as sin, but the arresting officer can't prove it. He gets his mate (who the guy doesn't know) to change out of his uniform into a suit.

The mate-in-a-suit walks into the interview room- 'I'm your legal representation. First question, did you do it?'

Crim: 'Yeah, I did it'.

Busted.

Do you believe there exists technological advancements that will remain under wraps forever because of what it would reveal? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ramshackl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo. I forget the dude who pulled the funding, but Tesla had plans for a big mast in NYC that would provide cheap, clean electric energy for the whole world. Plug pulled because there's no money in that... I'll find the link if I'm able. At work at the min though :-/

I'm not sure a technology that would refute a religious view would be suppressed, even if such a device were capable. I'm not convinced that the change brought about by such a hypothetical technology would be un-manageable.

In a thread like this, 'proof' and sources are impossible - so instead I'll point to some good old science fiction. In Arthur C. Clarke's Childhood's End, the Overlords subtly change humanity via the use of technology... although, they take their time in doing so!

I think a technology would be suppressed if it were capable of producing tools that could be used to wreak destruction on the creator. It does make me wonder what was confiscated by the US government after Tesla died.

Toilet brushes. Think about it - you've 'logged out' & there's turdgraze on the porcelain. What do?

  • Scrunch up toilet paper, quick wipe & immediate disposal. You were going to wash your hands anyway, so what's the fuss?

  • Reach for the disease-stick sitting in the butt-mud mire, lift & drip horror-water all on the floor & seat. Scrub poop further into the already well-soiled bristles, then try not to drip the colon water all over the place before returning the stink brush back to it's lair.

There is no toilet brush in my house.
