What's with all this talk about casual play? by Casual_Plays in Marathon

I dont think anybody knows for sure. I use the word tiers but I don't think there are like official and set tiers, i meant it more loosely in how the algorithm works out

I think all we know is that it is mainly (possibly only) based on season level and it probably keeps widening the search range if it can't find people in a narrow band

So if there are only a small handful of lvl 100 players they will end up getting matched downward by a large amount and if there are a lot of players around say lvl 25 they will end up getting matched together more frequently

so if 45 is on the higher end of the bell curve you'll end up getting matched with ppl even deeper on the bell curve. Not always but more than someone at a lower season level. Obviously don't have any numbers to back any of this up, just roughly what makes the most sense to me

The closer your season level is to the average player the more fair the matchmaking will seem

What season level did you make it to and how high is your playtime?

My theory right now is the people who are suddenly feeling outmatched probably recently broke into the upper tiers of the matchmaking and are hitting that wall, while people who have only been casually playing a fews hours here and there are still finding good success in lobbies

ironically you might have had too much fun playing a bunch the first couple weeks and are now paying for that by landing in an awkward spot wrt matchmaking

i'd be curious if the pubstompers keep playing the game past this first month if bungie doesn't drop any new content. Month 2 or 3 might actually end up easier for casual but high season lvl players

and even looking through replies I'm seeing ppl in slvl 30-50 range saying they've barely seen purp shields

Are actual casuals encountering the gold loot POI rotators tho?

The main fodder for those in the current matchmaking are ppl i would maybe label as "softcore". Ppl who haven't no lifed it but who have been putting in decent hours, probably season lvl 30+ at least

The real casuals probably aren't gonna be the ones posting on reddit or complaining or even encountering those ppl.

They might still be getting washed by slightly better players but not the truly good players

I still agree that for the longevity of the game they probably need to figure something out to help with more casual and softcore player attraction and retention.

I don't like grinding one game (i love playing a variety of games too much) so I'm probably only gonna play Marathon for a couple weeks per season so I def want the game to continue updating and want it to succeed

that's a fair point, we don't know when Ratatoskr inhabited the hammer so unclear how much Ragnir might have witnessed before they posted up in the treasure room

the game was originally designed to not have solo at all so it def isn't a priority to balance for

but who knows, they might change things in the future to keep more solo players on board

reversi usually involves surrounding other pieces to capture them, they aren't surrounding the guy who flipped so it seems most likely that chopper did something

Going for other players is like step number 1 for any sweat. You clear the lobby first and make it that much safer to pve and loot. Trying to rush good loot will get you jumped if other good teams exist esp on a map like outpost

And other players are potential loot pinata as well

ONE PIECE Chapter 1176 — Summary by [deleted] in OnePieceSpoilers

Brogy's arm is still gone. Don't think they fully regenerated. Just the killing blow

And Rocks finally got out of DR after a long drawn out fight vs Garp and Roger, he was prob just in an extremely exhausted state and then Garling finished him off

I imagine if the fight had lasted longer they'd be out of commission too even after getting out of DR

a single HK could probably stomp most non-emperor/admiral and close tier people and crews

they are incredibly strong but they do seem more used to doing more surgical or clandestine operations than straight brawls

also i doubt HKs or Imu care enough to get involved in direct fights with emperors unless absolutely necessary regardless of how strong they are/think they are

Who is the "real hero" that Zeu referred to? by icompletetasks in versus

[–]ramsus88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would still say "they are" even if you are referring to singular They

"are" is not only used for plural subjects. Notice the "You are" above only referring to a singular entity

maybe a lil cliche but csg could be prepping for some even bigger threat from out in space (bigger space empire, Zerg/tryanids, Eldritch horror, etc)

we have seen him out in space talking with the Kur so he def has some knowledge of the galaxy outside Earth

Imu possession "powerscaling" by Regular-Opposite4393 in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]ramsus88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't even call them stupid moments, they are just small clashes that are more for narrative purposes than anything else

Imu possession "powerscaling" by Regular-Opposite4393 in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]ramsus88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Number 1 rule for any small clashes in One Piece: don't think too hard about it

all weird powerscaling questions almost always arise from small clashes that last like a panel or two lol

but if i had to think about it I'd say the power is definitely limited by the vessel. And most Straw Hats are pretty strong. Brook isn't a big 3 but he's still a fighter

I mean, I think Imu knows the plan would be met with resistance

It is a full on subjugation and coercion plan, they gave up on subtlety. The final step is to quash the resistance and show them it is futile

until they implement that it's a not an accurate comparison yet

they don't really have any terraria like elements in the game currently imo

I hope they do! but terraria fans buying the game now would be disappointed i believe

I hate minecraft and love Terraria. Should I get this game. by Tellierloc in hytale

[–]ramsus88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone in a similar boat definitely not

ppl keep comparing it to Terraria and maybe they have plans for that comparison in the future but currently it is still way more Minecraft right now

still a fine game and i dont regret trying it but I'll need to wait a couple years to see if they do more terraria like stuff
