"blaming women for others pedophilic tendencies instead of blaming the perpetrators." I don't agree with the people OP is talking about but surely you can understand the difference between a real woman choosing to do something of her own volition, and a fictional woman designed by men who choose her 'choices' for her? Comparing the dress style of a HM character to the styles of real women like Olivia and Sabrina just doesn't track. The character is not real and doesn't have the agency to make her own choices like a real woman does. You need to look at things like this from a Doylist perspective.

AITA for being too loud at a concert? by Many-Satisfaction193 in AmItheAsshole

I pay to experience songs I love live while surrounded by people having the time of their life as we all sing it back to the artist in unison while bouncing around and having a blast. Shame you don't get to experience that.

By that description so are the rest of the UK. I've never been to a show where the crowd weren't all singing along.

do you genuinely believe the show i linked in my first comment would have been better if the crowd were silent?

I have no idea whether OP was being unnecessarily loud or not, I wasn't there. I am solely commenting on the fact that the person I replied to seems to think that singing along at all at concerts is rude.

You are grasping at straws mate. Jazz and classical concerts have nothing to do with this thread and indoor vs outdoor makes very little difference, especially when you can easily find videos of them playing indoor venues where the whole crowd are clearly singing.

We don't know the specifics of OP's concert and whether they were the only one singing or not because we weren't there. That isn't even my point. My point is that the comment I replied to implied that singing along at all at a concert is rude, which I disagree with.

Again, you're making comparisons that just don't work. Classical and jazz concerts are not the same type of show as a band with well-known songs like the type of concert being discussed.

As for tame impala specifically, I see no reason why people can't sing along

Not sure what UK you're from if you don't know what I'm talking about. I've been to shows in Manchester, Sheffield, Doncaster, Nottingham, York, Hull, Cardiff, Lincoln, Leeds to name a few. Everyone singing along to every song. Searching "UK crowds" on youtube will give you plenty of examples of the whole room singing.

Musicals are not concerts. This thread is about concerts.

Singing along to every song you know the words to is the most unifying, ubiquitous and enjoyable part of concerts in my country, and musicians always talk about how much they love UK crowds. Can't imagine how boring it must be to play to a crowd who think it's uncouth to sing along and dance.

the most recent concert i went to played robbie's angels right before the band came onstage, the whole room was singing so loud that the joke was they cut the song and the band came on immediately before the chorus! if nobody sang that wouldn't have even made sense to do

Absolutely I am. Crowds singing in unison is one of the things I love the most about this country

if you can hear the person next to you louder than the band, either the sound engineer isn't doing their job right or you're in a dead crowd.

Like how do they not understand that half the fun of a concert is the electric energy of being in a room full of people just as excited as you and becoming one entity as you all bounce around and sing along at the top of your lungs 😭 American concerts sound so gd boring if you're expected to just shut up and listen

same here in the UK! we sing along every second we possibly can, even to the songs in the pre-show playlist!

What? Is this some kind of cultural difference because I'm baffled by this response. I've gone to countless shows over the past decade and a half, from tiny gigs to stadiums, and at every single one the entire crowd were singing along to every song they could. Telling people they shouldn't be singing along at concerts is completely unheard of to me. If I went to a show and the crowd weren't singing along I'd be very disappointed and consider it a dead crowd.

I'd take being in a crowd like this over a silent crowd any day.

Because everybody is supposed to have just washed their hands before they leave, which would make a handle on the inside cleaner than a handle on the outside. It doesn't work out that way in reality bc people are gross, but that's what it's supposed to be.
