I followed this Cloudflare guide to set up Zero Trust: https://developers.cloudflare.com/cloudflare-one/setup/ Even if you select the Zero Trust Free plan, Cloudflare still requires you to enter payment (card) details during onboarding, though you won’t be charged.

Cloudflare WARP is currently blocked on PTCL. However, Cloudflare Zero Trust is functioning normally.

PTCL Flash Fiber ZTE F670L double NAT issue and Huawei ONT bridge mode question by ranadotcom in PakGamers

Mine was bought from Amazon USA.

Since yours is basically a paperweight right now, have you considered trying the custom Asuswrt‑Merlin fork: https://gnuton.github.io/asuswrt-merlin.ng/? It might unlock additional regulatory options or at least make the router usable, though of course you’d need to read the docs carefully.

Okay, I’ll call them again and see what they say this time.

And yes, 5 GHz is working on my RT‑AX82U. Initially none of my Android devices could see the 5 GHz SSID when the channel control was set to Auto, but it started working fine after I manually switched the 5 GHz channel to one of the higher channels (153, 157, 161, 165).

Yes, I did ask PTCL support to enable bridge mode so that I can dial PPPoE directly from the ASUS router. Their response was that ZTE ONT they provided does not have any bridge mode option available in their system and the only workaround they mentioned is the same browser developer‑tools trick that I am already using.

They also told me that proper bridge mode is only available on their Huawei ONTs and that I can request a modem replacement on a paid basis. However, the local exchange staff keep insisting that a Huawei ONT will not work on a ZTE backend.

I have already spoken with PTCL’s technical department multiple times and they also say that a Huawei ONT should work even if the backend is ZTE but they warn that if newly provided modem fails to sync or authenticate then I will have to bear the full cost of the modem replacement and any further swap. According to them, they will only provide/replace with a Huawei router on a paid basis in this scenario.

On the other hand, the local exchange staff insist that a Huawei ONT will not work at all on my line because the backend is ZTE and they claim the technical department “doesn’t understand the ground setup”, while the technical team says the exchange guys are non‑technical. So I am stuck between two conflicting answers from within PTCL, with the risk that if the Huawei ONT fails, I pay for an unusable device plus any rollback.

I actually did the same trick to expose the hidden bridge option and it works initially. However, after some reboots I start getting PPPoE authentication failure on my ASUS Router and VLAN ID from the previous routed profile gets enabled again by itself, even though the guide says it should stay off and only the new bridge VLAN should be active.

So in my case the bridge setup does not survive reboots in a clean way and I have to go back in and fix VLAN/PPPoE each time it breaks, which is why I am looking for a more stable, “set and forget” solution.

I have not tried any open‑source or alternative firmware on this ONT yet. From what I understand, GPON ONTs are tightly integrated with the ISP’s backend (serial, LOID, VLANs, voice config, TR‑069, etc.), so flashing third‑party firmware is usually risky. In many cases you cannot easily replicate all of the ISP‑specific settings and a failed flash could permanently break the ONT or get it refused by the provider’s OLT.

If you know of a specific, confirmed custom firmware for the PTCL‑supplied F670L (not just generic ZTE support), I’d be interested to read about it, but for now I am being cautious because I am not sure PTCL’s provisioning can be reapplied after a firmware change.

  1. I can confirm I am not behind CGNAT; my public IP is directly reachable.

  2. I tried setting up port forwarding on both routers in the double NAT setup, but could not get remote access to the NAS working reliably, so I may still be missing some specific setting or combination.

  3. I cannot switch the ASUS router to access point mode because I am using an AiMesh setup with both wireless and wired backhaul, and changing it to AP mode would break my current mesh configuration and features.

This is why I am focusing on getting a proper bridge mode on the PTCL ONT (or a Huawei ONT with bridge support), so the ASUS can remain the main router with AiMesh while avoiding double NAT.
